As I had read the reviews below I actually found it easy to find! (Thanks Trippie!) A nice walk across fields to find, as said below about an hour in total. Don't go in the rain (it's totally exposed to the elements) or any icy conditions as the roads to get here are awful. However, take the dog, take children... More

Great Atmosphere wandering around these ruins. The Entrance Porch is wonderful. It screams a statement of power and wealth. If you had money in days gone by you could flaunt it, and this porch does that. A very interesting building one should study at your leisure. It is well worth doing research on its history before going and you will... More

Sat nav does not take you directly here, you literally need to park up in a lay by next to the castle sign, that's if you can spot it. The castle is open to be public but on private land I believe, so no access for cars. You have to walk across 3 fields, jumping gates but that's all part... More

I have visited Beaupre Castle on several occasions mainly because of my interest in photographing historical sites. The first thing you will notice about this attraction is that it is isolated and quite difficult to reach. The only place to park a vehicle is on a very narrow country road approximately five hundred metres away across two fields. At least... More

Well worth a visit, if you can find it! Typical of a ruined castle that has been lovingly restored; you can walk through the archways and see where the rooms had been, and imagine it as it must have been.

Been to Cowbridge many times but I'd never heard of this place. The medieval part dates from around 1300AD with most of the rest added around 1600AD. It's really a manor house and not a castle, and was home to the Bassett family until they backed the wrong horse in the civil war. Their wealth declined over the next 200... More

As previous reviews have mentioned the site is well hidden. The cows came to greet us but were soon encouraged to move away to let us pass. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. We live locally and were unaware this was here, it is very well kept, and certainly worth the walk through the fields.

Fascinating old castle, partially restored with 'rooms' to explore over three 'floors.' have been taking the kids for treasure hunts there for years!

Took a little finding and a gentle stroll across a couple of fields but it was well worth it. We had the benefit of good weather and were the only people there. It is not really a castle but the remains of an Elizabethan house. Kids had a great time exploring the ruins and there is a little bit of... More
