Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lots of people and midges. Did get to see a whale and some dolphins, so the walk was worth it. It is a good well made path steep in places. No amenities at the site and its quite scruffy.

By all means take the road out to Neist Point, it's a beautiful drive. However if you are coming in a campervan I would advise against it, not because of the narrow road with passing places, but the condition of the road, and in particular the huge potholes in these passing places. I'm talking axel breaking type potholes, even cars need to be careful. The amount of traffic on the road is alarming as are the numbers of people who go here, I wonder if I'm the only one disappointed?
The view from the carpark is exactly the same as the view from the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is nothing special, typical Scottish white with yellow trim. Save your energy for something else, the steep climb back is not worth it.

Breathtaking views! The steep steps are worth it. If you want the iconic photos, you need to go to the cliff/viewpoint on the right. Loads of people but found some quiet spots.

What a spectacular piece of geography this place was. The walk over is tough going downhill, but the walk back up is a bit bit more of a challenge, at least it is at 76. The views are awesome. The rock climbers are daring. There are no services at the point, but tons of people make the trek and once you have been, you will know why.

This is no doubt a beautiful attraction. My review serves as a word of warning about the trek to get there. You will have to take miles and miles of one lane roads filled with reckless tourists speeding to and from Neist Point. It takes an incredibly long time and is fairly perilous at times. Skye is filled with equally beautiful attractions elsewhere on the island where you don't have to deal with this commute. My personal recommendation is to skip this in favor of some of the other Skye attractions because of the drive. Avoid the convoy of tourists cravenly trying to get the best social media photo they can possibly get.

Really cool and absolutely stunning to see and experience. Don't feel the need to walk all the way to the lighthouse as the views from the cliffs above are plenty good enough.

We were told Isle of Skye weather is always iffy - rain, overcast, dark, .. We were incredibly lucky - clear skies as far as the eyes could see.
The landscape is breathtaking, you can stare at it for hours on without getting bored.
Make the attempt to walk up to the lighthouse - the change of perspective is worth the effort.

Very dramatic, beautiful & inspiring site, but incredibly busy with limited parking at the end of a single track.

Feels like the very edge of the world. You drive along every narrower roads until you run out of land. Then you look across to the Hebrides- a ghostly presence in the distance. My family were awe- inspired

Hello! We are gonna visit Neist Point soon but we both don't have a driver licence. Are there buses to Glendale from Dunvegan in summer? It seems that the distance from there is about 6 kms. We are good hikers and we can do that and return. Ultimately if there are no buses how expensive it would be to hire a taxi from Dunvegan?

I don't remember seeing any buses in the parking lot. But I do remember seeing a few people hiking down the road.

Does anyone know why it’s named Neist point? My family’s last name is Neist (pronounced Neeest)- and I’ve never met anyone else in the US with that name! New bucket list addition to come here!!

We're visiting Skye at the start of April and Neist Point is on the list of places to see. I considered it as a wild camping spot, (we'll just have 2 small tents) but was put off by the possibility of lots of other campers! Were there any other wild campers when you visited? I heard it was a very popular spot.... Thanks in advance :)

We were there in August 2019. I saw quite a few campers along the road and the parking was a challenge. Never saw any tents but I wasn’t particularly looking for them so I might have missed them. It’s a beautiful spot. Sunset was awesome. Enjoy!

Was anyone up at Neist Point on rainy 8 Oct around 5.30pm? Anyone know the kilted strongman of Skye who led 3 other men to rescue our car from a ditch and helped the other driver reverse his car downhill to the passing point? We want to properly thank him!

Hi! We were there and we saw you. But we don’t know the identity of the man. Good luck! Maybe Facebook could help?
Is the walk suitable for a pram?

While the terrain itself is fairly level, I think it is too wet and muddy for a pram. If you really needed to take one you can always carry it while folded up and walk to the scenic overlook and then place your child in it and enjoy the view while sitting there but I probably wouldn't take it at all.

Salve a tutti !

Can you actually climb the lighthouse tower? Is it open to the public?

I see your question has been answered already. As a general point, there are no manned lighthouses in the UK. They have all been automated and as such they are not open to the public. In Scotland, the lighthouses are managed by the Northern Lighthouse Board and in England, Trinity House. Both bodies have websites that describe facilities, if any, at the mainland based lighthouses
