Wow what views.

Brilliant 360 views, especially out to the Western Isles. Steep easy decent and return same way. Not for the unfit. Zero facilities at the lighthouse, and none at the car park currently.

Amazing views

Staying on Skye for the week and not far from Glendale, thought we would come to Neist Point lighthouse.

It was one of those bracing winds and occasional showers sort of a day but well worth the drive and walk. There are a lot of steps involved but there is a handrail to hang onto to steady yourself. It’s broken in parts so that’s why I’ve given this a 4 star rating as it does need attention.

Once down at the headland you can see the lighthouse up close and reflect at how lonely the lives would have been for the keepers. Evidence of pulleys to drag provisions down , a derelict crane down near the jetty. All signs of bygone days.

The walk is also one of the islands core paths so you can google that and get a really detailed map up on screen. Lots of roadside parking has been created.

Well worth a visit

The views were great. It’s a shame the chair lift down seemed to be broken. The lighthouse seemed a bit run down and sad they locked all of the gates so you can’t wander around but are kept outside. I really don’t see why it cannot be opened up. I also looked through the windows and the wall paper was falling off the ceiling. The outside needs a lick of paint too. Why nit charge people £5 to park and spend the money on improving and up keeping the lighthouse. I would pay to stay the night there. Why isn’t it a B&B. Shame on whoever owns it! Also no information about the lighthouse or anything for visitors.

What a let down!

I was really looking forward to visiting here but I'm sorry I wasted my time. The roads were awful, full of people who cannot drive. The lanes are narrow and people were double parked. The "car park" was rammed at sunset, full of cars and litter and crowding.

You can't even SEE the light house from the car park!

It looks nice on photos but it's honestly not worth the effort it took me to get here.

Fantastic walk
Oct. 2020 • Family
I loved this walk. The walk itself took a good hour to the lighthouse and back, down and then back up very steep hills. The scenery was spectacular - layered cliffs, quirky rock formations, picturesque scenery with a large lighthouse at the bottom. Very photogenic. I’d definitely return.

A bracing walk along paths clinging to the hillsides is so worth it. The coastline along this route is stunning leading ultimately to the lighthouse itself. The walk is steep in places albeit perfectly safe (with steps and handrails in the steeper places) so be prepared. Exposed and windy in parts (as you might expect in this part of the world) but well worth donning warm and weatherproof clothing and getting down there.

A fantastic location on a good day. The scenery is amazing. The walk to the lighthouse is steep but if this is too challenging you can see other amazing views from the parking area. The single track roads are a bit of a challenge but you get used to these throughout the island.

Wonderful scenery

Mother Nature certainly has a wonderful treat at Neist Point.
The weather was not at its best when we were there, but that somehow made it more special.
Stunning scenery and if you have time, you can walk along the point to the lighthouse. We didn't (this time).

Super views especially at sunset. The path and steps make the walking very easy. This is a great place for a picnic.

Nice walk, even on a wet and windy day!
Sep. 2020
We visited Neist Point and did the walk to the lighthouse on the worst day of weather we had on Skye - very wet and super windy (waterfalls were blowing back up the cliffs!). That did mean it wasn't very crowded out there at all though - silver linings and all that.
We still really enjoyed the walk out there, although you do have to take care on the steps and walking up around the cliffs.
I'm sure it'd be a stunning place on a day with nice weather - we still had a good time and I'd definitely have this on the list of places to visit for a Skye itinerary.
