Many people have different views about the castle. My view is at least we have one, it may be just a shell but it still stands as a symbol of the people of Rochester. It stands on what was the main road from Dover to...More

Beautiful is all I can say. Well preserved. Interesting history behind it. Quirky gift shop. My little one loved the castle and climbing up the numerous stone cobbled stairs. My husband struggled due to heights (he has problems with altitude) so if you don't like...More

Nearly all the English Heritage places we visit we love. Thus one however was a real disappointment. Fist it's owned by the council and not English Heritage so that's possibly the problem. There's no parking despite the size of the area. A small car park...More

The garden around the castle are really nice and when there's good weather, perfect for a picnic. The castle it's self is nice enough but it's very hollow. So from what ever level you are on you get the same view of it all the...More

Rochester Castle has loomed over its city and river for nearly 1,000 years - fought over, redesigned, altered and now a tourist attraction. For the moderately fit, and, among them, those who do not suffer from vertigo, it is well worth climbing up to battlement...More

Hello, it isn't far at all. The train station is in a road that runs parallel to the High Street. Simply cross that road and you will be in the heart of Rochester.
