    This place is a Tardis!
Given this museum is squirreled away inside Rhodes Old Town, you might initially think it's a bit pokey. Prepare to be amazed! It seems to go on forever, there are multiple levels and some incredible spaces, both inside and out! We went quite late in the day which meant it was quieter and cooler, but the downside is that the cafe was closed.

    Bigger than it looks!
Initially, this seems like just a courtyard, but once inside you can explore the upper levels too. The museum fee was included in the €10 multi ticket we bought at the Grand Master’s Palace. It was definitely a good purchase. We loved wandering the artefacts here and the courtyard arches offered some lovely shaded seating.

    Mind boggling
There are a lot of exhibits in this museum. It is much bigger on the inside than it looks. We bought a combined ticket as that is better value for money - even though in the end we only used it for the museum and Grand master's Palace. The exhibits themselves are very interesting and there are lots of information panels. However, we were getting a bit overloaded by the end. There was a sort of 'order of visit' to follow but it wasn't that clear and a map, guide book or audio tour would have been helpful. By the time we reached the gardens a rest would have been welcome but it was late in the day and the café closed. If you like museums and are interested in history and archeology definitely worth a visit

Old town Rhodes - a definite!
Get combined museum and palace ticket…. Much better value. Palace is beautifully restored but not enough historical info in English!!! We would have been just as happy walking around its courtyard entrance(free) so much fabulous historical sites and vistas in old town Rhodes we think it’s as ‘bucket list’ location.

    Well worth the price
Very deceving size wise. The museum. Had lots to see with rooms over 2 floors so well worth the price. We bought the combination ticket foe 4 sites costing €10 . But we got our 16year old half price for being a student and 1 disabled at €5 with a free carer. The ticket alone cost €6 for 1 museum or €10 for the archiology museum, Grand masters palace, church of our lady and an art musuem. There were lots of artifacts to see. Well worth the cost and bigger and better than expected

    Unique museum setting
Visited the museum benefiting from the combined ticket (also including Palace and Palagia Kastrou church). Unique historical setting, very beautiful the garden area too, friendly personnel. I just wish there had been more explanations overall.

    Stunning Artefacts
Wonderfull archaeological museum, some astonishing pieces that are actually dated B.C. Very easy to find in old Rhodes town. Many pieces have information with them, unfortunately a few do not. Some incredible statues and pottery items ,that are exceptionally well preserved and again many date B.C, More than worth a visit.

Great for interested adults not kids or the casual tourist
Not for kids, it's very dry and non interactive but if you're an adult interested in rhodes history and the archeological finds this was an excellent museum. It surprised us that there was more to explore than we expected and the building itself was worth looking at. Looking carefully at everything we spent 90min there . No air conditioning though so even though there's shade you'll still feel very hot and bothered on a summer's day .

    Awesome ancient artifacts
If you are into ancient artifacts, this is definitely the place. At first I thought it was really small, but then on the second level, it has a ton of extra rooms. My favorite was a huge hall with lots of knights tombstones from around 12th and 13th centuries. There were signs in English that told you whose they were. Some of the other rooms got a bit monotonous - after your 10th room of ancient vases, they start to blur together. The mosaic floors were very intricate. There are lady attendants sitting in many of the rooms watching so you don't do anything wrong. Most of the rooms (except 1 I remember) you could take flash pictures. I really enjoyed the history a lot.

This museum is worth in on many levels. First of all, the building itself is beautiful and has very well kept gardens, which are also a pleasure to tour. I realize that many people compare it to museums in Athens and believe the collection is too small, but in reality this is an excellent museum with fine pieces from several periods, and because it is not too big you can really see all the artwork without needing to rush through.
Also, the ticket is inexpensive. You can buy a combined pass that is good for 3 days for different attractions, and that makes the price even lower.

It was great to be able to go inside one of the medieval buildings of the Old Town. The building itself and the gardens which it surround are really lovely to see. The exhibits are extensive as well, and there is so much to see, with really good accompanying information. Make sure you are prepared for the proper sweat fest though! It was very hot when we went, and there is no air conditioning in most rooms on account of the age of the building I guess. The compulsory wearing of masks due to Covid makes this even harder. Still, it was worth it!

Can’t fault the museum - well worth a visit but very rude staff. As the only person trying to buy a ticket the woman taking payment happily ignored me and continued chatted to her friend. When she finally deemed it worthwhile to sell me a ticket she told me that if she wanted to talk to her colleague I must wait. She proceeded to ask me my nationality before boasting that she was very good at her job and the Greeks had invented many things like philosophy and mathematics.

Shame they don’t offer some customer service training. With the exception of the tourist office and the museum staff, the local Rhodians have been very welcoming and friendly.

A very valuable collection well displayed in a marvelous and well kept historic building. It is an archaeological museum, so the average non-specialist visitor may be overwhelmed when looking at a hundredth painted vase, but information is well presented. The glory of the place is the venue, a grand mediaeval buildings that also has a charming garden section and a surprise of an Ottoman house to offer. A memorable experience.

The museum exhibits artifacts from various time eras, and from different parts of the island. The setup and progress of the exhibition is done masterfully! You get to walk through a medieval palace and its gardens, and move from one historic group to the other.

Keep a note that, like I most museums, photography is prohibited in some parts of the museum.

The museum building itself is a masterpiece, with beautifully carved walls and stairs, and the gardens are stunning. The exhibitions are really comprehensive, would need at least 2-3 hours if you would just walk through. Several exhibitions are only open till 4:50pm, recommend to visit early in the day.

I loved wandering around, imagining what had happened here in the hospital years ago. The garden was lovely. I also enjoyed seeing the old tiles and statues. I was aware that the double thickness wall and 4 km moat around the city were directly linked to this order. I found this a spiritually moving and satisfying site.

I went to see the museum but it was the building which blew my mind.
Like the Templar Palace the building was in fantastic condition.

First the museum, on the second floor of the quad where numerous rooms each filled with poetry well displayed and explained.

But for me the two best things was the main hospital hall with its tiny isolation rooms at the side and the garden.

We passed through the sculpture section into the walled garden which though green was nothing fantastic but the feeling if tranquility the knights and sick must have felt was imaginable.

I sat and was still.

This hospital with its rich and poor, surgery and gardens looked better than most NHS hospitals. Where are the recovery rooms now? Where are the gardens?

Well that is smother story

The cost was 3 euro and EU minors with ID free

The old hospital of the Knights Hospitallers / the Order of St. John.
The building itself is great and well worth a visit for everyone interested in medieval times and hospitallers.
The archaeological museum is mostly about pre-medieval times and hellenistic era, and not the knight hospitallers, Still worth a visit and has some quite impressive and well known sculptures. Also has a nice little garden.
One of my highlights, though, was the large hall of the hospital with many old stones with signets of the knights hospitallers.

Great way to spend a couple of hours wandering around this fabulous old building in Rhodes Old Town. Lots of things to see and it is a warren of rooms and outside courtyards to explore. If you buy a combined ticket it will allow entrance to the Grand Masters palace as well as the art gallery so great value for only €10!
