We stayed in Calvi for two weeks and bought the 50 euro weekly ticket for using the railways in Corsica. With this we went by train from Calvi to Ajaccio, where we spent a night. The next day we took the train back as far...More
The train from Calvi to L'ile Rousse is quite dated but that does add to the nostalgia, lovely views along the coast and plenty to do in both Calvi & L'ile Rousse. L'ile Rousse is a lovely town with a busy market, plenty of good...More

Ile Rousse itself is a nice town with a nice beach and the train has some...More

A quirky way to spend time on an old fashioned railway line.
It is best to travel off season when the train is not too crowded.

The Train (Tramway) de la Balagne goes between Calvi and Ile Rousse and stops at all the little beaches and communities along the way. There are also trains on the Grandes Lignes which connect Calvi and Ile Rousse with other destinations.
The train leaves from Calvi every 2 hrs - on the hour - with an hour out of sync at lunch time. - eg 8,00, 10,00, 13.00, 15.00 and 17.00 Leaves Ile Rousse 9.00, 11.00 14.00 16.00 Google search 'Train de la Balagne timetable' and look for the corsicabus train services site. Unfortunately I don't seem to be allowed to add in a direct website link in my response but that site is easy to find will give you the current timetable.
