Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I loved the video they presented in the beginning. The walk through the enclosure is beautiful and you can see many butterflies up close. It is easy to find and doesn't take long to visit so definately stop by. $7 entrance fee fyi.

This place is certainly worth a visit if you are visiting El Valle de Anton and have a hour to spend.
The ticket price was really fair considering the show. The guide wad really fun and informative and to our surprise, could speak few phrases of Finnish.
We actually learned many new things about butterflies, their lifecycle, colouring and of course saw multiple new ones.
Thank you!

Quick stop in El Valle to see and learn about butterflies! They said they have a thousand butterflies, flying freely and landing on you.
It’s very humid inside. At the end, there’s a lady explaining life cycle and interesting facts about them.

Worth a stop when in El Valle. Easy to walk to from the market. Love all those guys flitting around. A young man came in with us and gave a very mini tour/introduction and some interesting info. It is very small compared to other butterfly places we have visited but still worth a visit. For the twenty minutes or so, I thought it was a bit pricy.

Went with my wife and 14 and 11 year old daughters. The guides were well trained and spoke excellent English. There were lots of butterflies and one hummingbird. We had lots of time to take photos. One of the best values we found in Panama.

I am a butterfly fanatic and have been to MANY butterfly centers across North America and the Caribbean. This butterfly center was by far my favorite. #1 - It is packed with hundreds butterflies. There were some that I had never seen before. #2 - The butterfly education was excellent. The guides showed us the caterpillars of some of the butterflies that were there. There were videos and demonstrations. #3 - Very affordable. I would highly recommend visiting Butterfly Haven on your visit to Anton de Valle. This is a must see!

My family and I visited the butterfly haven yesterday and want to recommend it as a worthwhile stop for everyone visiting El Valle; especially those with children, young and old.
For non-residents the entry fee is $5.00, and it’s worth the price to walk through the enclosed area with all the butterflies fluttering about. The staff is awesome; welcoming, friendly, and informative. They take you on a short tour (about 15 to 20 minutes) around the area explaining each of the butterfly species and interesting facts about them. Our guide spoke English with a Panamanian accent, so while understandable, we did have to pay attention. Fortunately, after the guided tour everyone is encouraged to leisurely wander through the exhibit to study, enjoy, and for us…take pictures of all the butterflies.
In addition to the butterfly exhibit a 20 minute presentation on the life cycle of a butterfly is given by one of the staff members. Enhanced with videos and audience participation, the presentation is very informative, engaging, and fun. Overall the Butterfly Haven takes about an hour (possibly one-and-a-half hours) to visit. The enclosed area containing the butterflies is not very large so don’t imagine a grandiose, multi-hour attraction. The beauty and joy of the place is in the simplicity of walking among all the butterflies.

I will never see butterflies the same way after this wonderful experience, and I will be much more careful not to accidentally harm them by disturbing their habitat or mistaking a butterfly caterpillar for a slug! I love Monarch butterflies and had no idea that they are here in Panama too. I enjoyed every minute of the 2+ hours of magic and learning.

No, the butterfly building is small and only two blocks from the main street.
