Our tours are friendly, informative and fun. With no more than 12 people on board, raft beneath many thousands of fabulous glowworms to see them at their very best. We visit private caves away from the regular, more commercial tours. Our caves are on a beautiful hill country farm and your guide is also your host, so expect a really enjoyable and memorable tour of our two magical caves.

I went on this tour with my seven year old and we both loved it. Tour was plenty long and you get to see a ton of glow worms. I am not sure why you would get in the freezing water when you get to see everything on this amazing tour without getting wet. Our guide was very knowledgeable and... More

The tour through the glowworm cave and a second cave take a bit more than 3 hours, out of which about an hour is the bus trip to and from the caves. The groups are small (±12) and there is a lot of room for questions and exchange. Our guide Ross explained all the details in his Kiwi humorous way... More

My partner and I took the Spellbound tour and were absolutely amazed. We were taken through some fantastic scenery and then given tours of 2 caves which are on private property and off the beaten track. Our tour guide was friendly and extremely informative and the sights we saw were indeed spellbinding. The $75 we paid was well worth it... More

Second visit to Waitomo (first as a schoolkid), but first time on a private tour. I would definitely recommend! Felt very special to be taken out to the secret spots and explore the two different caves with a small group. Our guide (Simon) was friendly and knowledgeable and took great care of us. We had two young children with us... More

There are quite a few Glow-worm tours available in Waitomo Caves – some fall in the ‘extreme’ category involving wet suits and abseiling – so for the more sedate experience I was looking for it came down to a choice between two – a highly commercialised outfit that I understand can push daily 000’s of people on a 50 minute... We had an amazing time on the 3 hour glowworm cave tour. The guide was full of good information and had local insight. He was patient with us having little ones along needing car seats and wee breaks. The experience itself was truly magical. The boat ride was longer than we would have had with another company and that alone... More

Overall, this cave tour is good. The guide was informative and the "glowworms" steal the show. If only the tour were a bit longer...

What a magical place! And thanks to the staff and tour guides for making what could have been a boring walk through caves, instead an interesting and educational adventure. Dave from the cave was such a spectacular guide, making complex scientific information accessible to anyone of any age who wanted to listen!

We were a small group of nine people and had a great tour of the two beautiful caves. The trip out to the first cave was stunningly beautiful, and I wish we had asked Norm to stop for photos - he did offer this, but we didn't take him up on it. I wish we had. The views along that... More

What a magical place to visit. I was recommend to use Spellbound tours when visiting the Waitomo Caves & I'm so glad I did. On the surface you could be forgiven for thinking they're a bit behind the times in comparison to the big infrastructure at the main caves, but once you're on the tour it's brilliant. Not only are...
