Do not miss this walk! Definitely matches the (much more commercial) cave experience. We went after heavy rain, which added excitement.

Great walk to do at twilight or just after it gets dark as the glow worms can be seen along the rock walls lining the walk. The path disappears on occasion through caves so be ready for that. really enjoyed it, allow about 45 mins...More

We walked from the gloworm cave to the ruakuri cave following this path and it took us around 1 hour. It is not a difficult path and the scenery is worthy of the effort. Beautiful forest with even a very small cave.

Failry challenging in places, as in very steep but worth the effort. Your walk next to the very fast flowing river and through tunnels

This is a fabulous walk. If you ate visiting Waitomo for the Glow worm caves, I recommend you squeeze this walk into your schedule. It is just near the start of the Aranui cave tour, near Car Park B. This is one of the prettiest...More

Excellent short bush walk - though there is a lot of stairs, it is suitable for kids - my 5 year old enjoyed exploring the couple of caves along the walk immensely.

Lovely walk through the external bushland of the Waitomo Caves BUT...there are very steep stairs in quite a few places. If you have trouble climbing stairs, would not recommend.

Yes, it took us 2.5 hours from near Auckland airport to the caves. This was in a motorhome and driving steadily.
