Awesome

We had such a fantastic day here. There is so much history, and my youngest was very excited to find gold! We thought we would have some fun and get some old time photos done. I know the fires burnt this place down, we were only here a couple of days beforehand, and did get stuck in Batemans bay. So sad, but know that we did have a great time. Thankyou

Easy to get to, car park was small though so wouldn’t be idea on a busy day.
Staff were friendly, fun for kids. Very overpriced though

Great weekend away
Sep. 2019 • Family
Great little weekend trip away. We stayed here with our tweens who loved exploring the site. Accommodation was good, we had two bedrooms 2 bathrooms with the ability to lock each room. The tour guide was great, he went out of his way to teach the tweens how to pan for gold, even when the tours were over for the day. A very big, nice area and relaxing for everyone 😊👌

Loved the guided tour around this old gold mine. Very interesting and the guide Jody was absolutely awesome! Beatiful area and all native plants around. Totally worth dropping by!

The houses, set up etc is cool to see. Some info printed in each area would have been good, or pods to listen to or something like that. The fellow giving the tour did not speak to any of the women. By the end of the tour there were only 2 of the 5 women left. He ignored women comments, set up the kids to look like idiots then laughed at them, and chatted only to the men. As a woman and educator, I was quite disgusted. As a mum, I was disappointed, not o ly by the guides behaviour, but to find that the train that is advertised on their Web site doesn't run, in fact hasn't for years....! BUt still used as a drawing card. soon as the tour was finished, the guy took off. Not waitng for questions or comments. Not good for smaller children. In all, interesting, but not worth the price. I don't like paying for rudeness.

Terrible experience didn't bother going in
Apr. 2019 • Family
We went once before when the kids were very young and were considering going again. We walked up towards the maze to see if the kids were interested before we bought them tickets but a woman came out of reception and started yelling at us to buy a ticket. No hello or can I help you just yelling, as if she was accusing us of trying to sneak into her silly park. It was so incredibly rude we left right away and will not be going back. We did enjoy some home-made ice cream down the road though.

A Great Place
Apr. 2019 • Family
Stayed here for a family weekend away to celebrate my grandsons 13th birthday. The staff were very friendly, the cabins were just what we wanted. My parents stayed in a cabin with me we had a bedroom each and our own bathroom! Everything we needed in the kitchen with adequate cooking tools etc.
We did a tour on the second day. The tour guide was well informed and was a character. he explained a lot to us and kept the kids enthralled.
The Gold Rush Colony is a great place to visit and I highly recommend it to all.

Excellent Historical walk and well preserved but expensive entry
Apr. 2019
We visited this place on our holiday and found it in a brochure. We arrived at the reception and were greeted by a lady who was very friendly and told us all the info we needed to know. Although in my opinion it was way too expensive for what it was $25 an adult. There was three of us which costed us a total of $75 to have a walk around and pan for gold. Although It was a great walk around with plenty to see and almost everything was in original condition which is great. And you can walk into nearly every single hit and building which makes the experience even better. The only thing I wasn’t happy about was the entry fee, the rest is fantastic.

Not to be missed

Go for the day or go to stay.
We stayed in a miner's cabin which was brilliant. Two very clean double bedrooms, each with their own ensuite. Plus extra beddind if needed
The kitchen had everything we needed (take your own food ). We felt we were staying in a tree house. The colony had so much to offer including panning for gold, walking through the 1850s era gold rush town.
Ienjoyed it so much,I'm going back again this year AND it's only a few minutes drive from the incredible Mogo Zoo.

Great place, educational, friendly staff

We really loved our stay here. The cabins were clean and peaceful. The pool was great to cool down after a busy day exploring.
We really enjoyed our tour with Trevor. The kids and adults all learned something new. Gold panning kept everyone occupied for quite a while.
I'd definitely recommend a visit. If you can't stay overnight, still worth dropping by for a few hours and catching the tour. The maze is also fun.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming. All in all a great weekend at Mogo.
