Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A must see stop when in town!
Located in the main plaza you will see the Cultural Center; on your left when facing the main chuch. It is very beautiful. The place is perfect for relaxation while learning more about Izamal.
There´s a museum that has some of the most beautiful hand made artwork from all over mexico made by the best masters/teachers and only for a small fee. (less than 2 dollars). As an artist and art lover I loved all the detail and variety of every elegant elaborte piece.
In the little shop you will find many hand made iteams that actually help the women who make them, Every purchase is not only a one of a kind iteam but you help support and conserve the unique trade of the locals. My favorites are the silver jewlery and the sturdy bags made for the material Sisal that has supported Izamal for centuries.
You will enjoy your visit! it´s a perfect escape from the commotion and heat while enjoying a cool drink from the cafe. The staff is very welcoming and helpful they can point you to anywhere you want to go better than the actual tourist center. Oh! and they have a spa too. They are very friendly people and no matter what language you speak they will help you enjoy your visit in Izamal.
Worth it! Peace & love from California

This is a small museum that exhibits some folk art from Mexico.
Very nice, and they have a special area for local art and the history of the haciendas in Yucatan.
A quick visit just to learn more about the area.

This museum is small but has an excellent selection of crafts by masters around Mexico. For a little more than a dollar entrance it is great value. There is an attached gift shop and cafe. Where there get your map of sights and craft workshops in Izamal.

We really enjoyed walking around this small museum and looking at all the different examples of Mexican folk art. One aspect we really loved was the inclusion of a lot of information both about the specific pieces of art and about the origins of the materials used.
The air conditioning is also a great draw in the heat of Izamal. It's a shame we couldn't check out the cafe when we visited - it didn't seem to be open (we visited at around 11am).

Very good quality of various types of arts from Mexico. Pottery, catrinas, weaving, jewelry from henequen spines or palm seeds or cow horns, musical instruments, sisal, tree of life, very good quality representation of each art style, technique, etc. Very small but worth the tour. Truly enjoyed. Small store next to museum is free but the museum is not. There is also a small room dedicated to the history of some haciendas - free also.

Centro Cultural y Artesanal have collected wonderful examples of mexican art not only from Yucatan but from all Mexico; beautiful, amazing pieces worth seeing and at the end or the beginning the gift shop where you can find the perfect gift for you or a loved one.

The art in this museum was very representative of the Yucatan. We throughly enjoyed our tour through their interesting and small rooms. The gift shops at the end were excellent and well priced.

We read about this town in the Yucatan Today magazine and thought we would check it out. It is a beautiful yellow town and a great way to spend the day whether on the horse and carriage ride or walking. Several sets of ruins in town to see. Walking through the streets was a wonderful photography adventure.

Very nice little handcrafts store and a quaint little café hidden in the back! I had to take a conference call while on vacation (we passed through Izamal on the way back to Mérida from Chichén Itzá in the afternoon) but we actually discovered the walled in courtyard café with nice birds where I took the call and we enjoyed a nice coffee!

Brilliant little collection right in the centre of Izamal which has excellent displays of colourful, varied work in different media by Mexican artists, minimal entrance fee. We looked around at our leisure and the staff were on hand to answer any questions.
