Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A must see when visiting Holbox! Don’t visit without going here. Beautiful clear water and great to relax on the white sand

Enjoyed going to Punto Mosquito. The water is beautiful and it was a nice workout walking there. Wear a lot of sunscreen. Got so burnt.

Amazing place we arrived at 9.30am and were the first ones on the spot. The scenery was unique.
We saw plenty of flamingos

We were extremely disappointed visiting Holbox. The island is severely over exploited with lots of construction activities ongoing. Sewage system and roads have broken down. The roads are full of muddy pools and it is impossible to walk anywhere.

Mosquitos is are aggressive and a real issue. As an icing on the cake, sargassum was impacting the north shores of the island giving the place a bad stench and preventing swimming in the ocean.

Maybe the place is better in the drier winter months, but I wouldn't take the chance going back.

Believe the island would benefit of a "moratorium" such as the one in Boracay. No visitors for a couple of year to let the environment recoup.

This was such a beautiful walk to do mid morning. Sand and water were stunning, wildlife was special, and not crowded at all. An absolute must.

Photogenic sand bank to Punta mosquito - 45 min walk up in knee-high water (high tide) carrying your beach bag, to a tiny piece of marsh land where you cannot really sit, relax or picnic or swim, and return 45 min walk.

Definitely worth walking on the sand bank for the beautiful views and the fun experience. Not worth going all the way to Punta Mosquito.

Take a taxi ($150 MX). Then follow the sandy path for about 40 meters to the water. Cross to the sand bar- water never got more than 1.5 meters high. Lots of fish and we even saw a few smaller sting rays. Another option is to rent a kayak and paddle to this section.

Amazing experience visiting Punta Mosquito. We hired bikes and rode down along the beach, then walked along the beautiful long stretch of sand in between the sea, it’s absolute paradise. We saw tropical fish, a starfish and a sting ray! Would 100% recommend.

The sand is way too soft and the water is way too warm. The water is so warm you feel cold when you get out and feel the warm ocean breeze. The color is an ugly emerald. And there are ugly birds flying around everywhere. I would not recommend. Stay home and watch TV instead.
