Stayed at an air B and B Alma's Nook local people very friendly and welcoming.
The beach was great, (Bottoms Bay), like having your own private beach, sometimes the water was a little rough.
Loungers and coconut refreshments prepared on site, for a fee. These local entrepreneurs were helpful, polite and very accomedating.
The place felt and was very safe the accommodations were of an average Ontario Muskoka cottage with all the amenities. No AC no need for screens, great refreshing on shore breeze kept everything comfortable.

It's a nice beach but when we visited today it was covered in seaweed and looked quite unsightly. It was far from the pristine white sands that we were expecting. There was a little bit of rubbish about, it could do with a bin there. I also noticed that in the 'cave' on the far side there were numerous bits of tissue about, people had obviously been using this as a loo. The sea was a beautiful colour, though not really safe for swimming, as the guide books state, being on the east coast. There were a couple of men at the car park selling drinks and a little food and to be honest, they were quite friendly and didn't harass us. A pleasant enough beach but I do think there are better.

This beach is located between two cliffs and is quite secluded. During our visit it was not very busy. We found that there were a few beach chairs to rent, but this beach would also be enjoyed on a towel or beach blanket. There are no restaurants or restrooms nearby, which adds to the secluded feeling. There was a vendor selling coconut drinks if you are looking for beverages.

While you can relax in the sun here, you can also check out the cliff areas and take a path to view the beach from above. Overall this was one of our favorite beaches even though the water was rough and we could not swim.

We visited 8 different beaches on the island to experience the diversity. If you are interested in video footage of this beach check out our Barbados video on our Youtube channel Explorcation (posted in March 2020). The link is in our bio.

The natural path through the greenery and rocky steps were magical, and as it opened up to the vibrant turquoise Atlantic Ocean the air and ambience hit me. The cliffs were reminiscent of what you might see in Ireland, except with tropical trees popping up everywhere. We stayed in Atlantic Rising at SUNRISE VILLA 27 and it was the best place we ever stayed!

We love the west coast of Barbados for swimming and snorkelling, but sometimes we just like to get away from the crowds and be a little adventurous. There is much to see on the east and southeast coast with some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean never mind Barbados. Bottom Bay is one of them. I’ve read the negative reviews, but the authors should think before posting. Sometimes seaweed can get washed up on the beach and give of gaseous smells, and people complain! Well I’m sorry that’s just nature for you😳
Everyone knows east coast seas can be hazardous for even the strongest of swimmers; so use common sense! We went on a day with little seaweed on the beach and with good sea conditions and enjoyed a swim. We are strong swimmers, but realised if we were not it could be a struggle. Again, it’s nature, and common sense should prevail. That aside, the raw natural beauty is there to be seen for what it is and not to be complained about just because it’s not to their alternative west coast liking. So go and enjoy, you won’t regret it😎

Came to see the sunrise, was not disappointed. A surreal experience seeing the sun through the palm trees. Then descending the spooky steps to the beach was a magical experience like going into another world. A lot of crabs scurrying around too.

Rough road into a small car park. Gorgeous views from the top. Stairs down to the beach weren’t too taxing. Friendly but not pushy Coconut sellers at both the top and the beach itself. Sea too rough to swim in but an attractive beach.

This beach is gorgeous. It was worth the drive from the west coast to go visit. There are stairs to get down to the beach, so those with mobility issues may be better off admiring the view from the top at the parking area. The waves are fairly big here which is a blast if you are an experienced swimmer. There is a stand selling fresh coconut drinks at the top of the staircase. You can have a your coconut with or without rum. Perfect to take down to the beach with you.

Another beautiful natural beach in Barbados, beware of the under currents as a frequent visitor I have witnessed some near misses, swimmers must be strong if the sea is choppy.

This is no doubt a beautiful beach, perhaps the best in Barbados. It is on the East side of the island which means that the sea is rough and it is not really a beach for swimming. That said, had it not been for the safety issue, we would have loved to have spent the day there, reading a book etc. To get there, you turn off from the main road, drive down a narrow road, at the end of which you can park your car. From there you need to walk down some steps and you'll be at the beach.

The big big problem is that it is not safe. It is a secluded beach and when we went there, there was no only one person there, who happened to be a rather unpleasant character. This guy will started bothering us as soon as we got out of our car and we decided to turn back fairly quickly. We came back the next day hoping the guy would be gone but, not only was he was still there, he had brought his buddies.

Our advice is to stick to the big, well-frequented beaches, even if they are not as nice. It is a shame because these experiences spoil things not only for visitors but, by extension, for the whole island because word gets out and less people will come and visit.
