A lovely little museum. Staff very friendly. Gives you an overview of how the port developed and declined with the slate industry. Small entrance fee of £2.

Good place to start your visit to the area and familiarise yourself with the history. Some really unusual exhibits (corrective magnetic bars for compasses you can experiment with, early scooters used by miners, etc). Probably an hour or so for a visit. Very cheap for...More

An interesting and inexpensive museum explaining how boats were used to transport slate. Some lovely old photos and interesting shop building memorabilia. Really friendly staff.

This is an excellent little museum staffed by enthusiastic local amateurs. If you go in knowing nothing about Porthmadog you will come out knowing all you need to know to enhance your visit to the town. Lots of naive paintings of local ships and photos...More

For a small maritime museum, the Porthmadog museum is pretty cool. There are interactive exhibits for the kid in us all, kind staff, and some pretty neat history. It's not a place to spend an entire afternoon - it's a bit too small for that...More
