Newer museum, larger than expected. Told the story of Portuguese exploration with a focus on Brazil, of course. Mostly in Portuguese, but interactive screens offered English versions as well - rather odd translations, but you could understand what they meant. Belmonte is a lovely town to walk around, but not a lot to do, so the museum was worth an hour or so.

A very nice attempt for a interactive museum. My 9 year old enjoyed it but as it is not very large did not manage to occupy much of the morning. Having said that, its a good option for a day filler.

Very interesting and well developed. The sequence of historical features is well planned and organised, calling the visitants attention to the importance of Portugal in the evolution of events in our civilisation.

Loved to visit this museum. As a Portuguese, it’s mandatory to make a stop here if visiting Belmonte. Learn about the Portuguese discoveries and also about Pedro Álvares Cabral, one of the most famous navigators, born in Belmonte, who discovered Brasil 500 years ago.

Very interesting to know how powerful and how important Portugal was at the time and that such important people came from this small village. Some of the screens were not working. Friendly staff.
