Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ponta do Cintrao offers one of the most stunning vantage points in all of Sao Miguel.
There is an old lighthouse at the end of the road, it is an active lighthouse and looks to be a recent renovation. Back up the road, a short distance at the highest point is the most stunning views. These are breathtaking.
It is so worth the drive to get out here and bring your lunch, maybe a bottle of wine and just enjoy yourself.

This point used to be a whalers watchpoint and today there is a lighthouse. The views west offer spectacular cliffs falling into the crystal clear ocean. Throughout the island the air is clear no pollution no fog no smog which makes the colors so vivid and the air so crisp that it hurts your lungs...

This is a marked scenic look-out in both direction just off the highway. It is a wow view, especially watching the waves crashing up against the cliffs. There is a WC, but no other facilities. On the edge of the cliff it's very windy, as is most of the island. Parking and then about a 100' walk in.

This point is further away than the Miradouro de Santa Iria. Beautiful view, stunning rocks, impressive promontory and the Atlantic Ocean! It was created by very old pyroclastic eruption.
You can reach the area driving or using a local hiking trail.

Very steep coast with several islets, a lighthouse, a viewpoint and a baleia lookout. It can be explored following the route of the "municipal trilho" TM01 - Trilho da Ponta do Cintrão.
