We went to the Feast of the Assumption here. Fantastic local parish energy and a great sense of community. Of interest is the large nativity scene (any size coin will operate the lights) and the north aisle chapel which clearly survived the 1693 earthquake and...More

This is one of Modica's beautiful grand churches. BUT, there is an additional reason to visit this church. A side chapel space holds a very large and intricate diorama It depicts a nativity scene set in an entire hillside village, circa 1881. We spent a...More

This church is close to the center in lower Modica. It has a lovely interior with a very nice painted ceiling. The outside of the church does not indicate its interior would be so beautiful.

It was incredibly hot when I was in Modica so this church was a welcome relief. It is well worth a visit, very ornate and pretty, and tucked off to the side so it's cool and quiet

A short stroll from the centre - worth a little look though. Quite dark inside. If I'm honest the thing I remember most about it was the cafe/ bar almost next door to it called 'The Holy Bar'.

While visiting Monica we visited Chiesa di Santa Maria de Betlem. It was a nice change from the tradition Baroque churches in Sicily. The colors were much softer and it was in excellent condition. Worth a visit.
