I come from a small village close to Ardee, as a child I loved Ardee and still do, and when I am back in Ireland I always do as much shopping in the privately owned shops as is possible. Ardree is close to Dublin and many people choose Ardee to live and work in Dublin. The Castle looks impressive at Christmas when lit up. It is a shame that it is not used for concerts like it used to. Ardee could do with a nice hote, being so close to motorway. Carlingford is only a short journey away too.…

In the middle of the other shops and buildings. It is impossible to miss this castle as you drive by Ardee, and a reason to stop by for some minutes.

The castle has a long colourful history. It dates from Norman times on the edge of the Pale. It has in the past been used as a courthouse but for the last number of years the local council has closed it and surrounded it with mesh wire fencing. As a fine historical building it should be open to the public. But alas!!!…
