We had a great experience and a wonderful guide (Mr. Sallay) who gave us a very good demonstration about the tea factory & the process. All of us really enjoyed including the kids. It was their first time being in a tea factory. We really enjoyed the tea tasting at the end of the tour as well. Would definitely recommend this place.

Really warm welcome by the owner called Sallay. He started the tour right when we got there for 1000 LKR for 2 persons. He showed us the whole factory and explained the whole process and machinery. Really interessring! We could take pictures at every 'station'. The tour was about 30min and small tea tasting after the tour. I really recommend this tour if you wanna see behind the process of the tea.

Very nice old factory with a great tourguide. Also very cheap. You get a tour of one hour and at the end you can taste the tea. Never knew there were that much processes to make tea

The guide introduced to us the whole story of how to make tea while taking us through the factory. What we liked was that this factory doen´t seem to be visited by large amount of tourist groups so we had a kind of uniqueness feeling and we also liked that the guide took the time to explain and answer our questions and that he turned on some idle tools so we could understand better how it worked.

Kinellan should be as high up on the tourist’s to-do list as Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arch Bridge. Sallay gave us a fantastic tour of this working tea factory; his English was very clear, making detailed explanations of the tea making process and history of the factory highly informative and enjoyable. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by a gorgeous aroma of fresh tea leaves! As this is a working tea factory, you get to observe the workers in full flow, which is immersive. For travellers like me who love to understand the social, economic, historical dynamics of a place, this absolute gem of a tour satisfies that itch. The tour is even ended with a tea tasting and the opportunity to buy some tea. When the tour is over, Sallay directs you to tea fields down the road from the factory which are on a hill - there’s a beautiful view and you can observe tea pickers peppered across the landscape.

Interesting tour for little money. The tour was very personal because it is a small factory. At the end there is a short tasting with 3 different black teas.

Great tour with Sallay our guide. Power was off due to power cut but that actually improved experience as we could hear better and interact more.
To do the tour we just turned up at the gate.

Yes....tours are very informal....but realistic. It's a genuine tea factory unlike others in the area.
