Located just right outside the Cathedral of Dumaguete, this tower is a silent witness to the once turbulent history of the city. It was one of the original watch towers built to look out for Muslims attacking the city from the sea at that time....More

Old and Historical Landmarks should always be kept and preserved. It reminds us of where we came from and that's always worth remembering. Around the Belfry area, though, are plenty of masseuses offering their services. A foot spa after walking around town is very enticing!

Eight years ago, I've been to this site and the city government still preserved the antiquity and attraction. But some trees are covering it and needed to trim to emphasize Belfry from passers by outside the gate. It looks so dim and dirty and dark.

This tower, which also serves as a devotional area where visitors can light candles, literally looks hundreds of years old. After lighting a candle and saying a little prayer, use the tower as a backdrop for a great photo opportunity. There's also a little grotto...More

This belfry is located right outside the cathedral of Dumaguete (dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria). It's one of the four watchtowers built in the 1760's to ward off Moro attacks to the city, which were rather frequent at that time. Today it stands as...More
