About
Ganga Aarti Means Prayer for the River Ganga. The Ganga is holy river in India. It is worshipped as a goddess. Every day Morning and Evening Ganga Aarti is organised by Ganga Sabha at Har Ki Pauri. Morning and evening time for Aarti is according to Sunset and Sunrise. There is no entry fees or charges for the ceremony.A large number of people gather on both side of the river Ganga to experience and take part in this amazing ceremony. Ganga Lahari Mantra is chanted while making offering to Ganga "Panchamrut" anf flowers. Last part of the Ganga Aarti is special Aarti song for river Ganga which pilgrims / visitors can hear through loud speakers. Pandits will be offering Aarti during the song with special copper "Diya". During some festivals and busy season like may june overwhelming crowd gather here specially during the evening ceremony. It is best to reach at least one hour before the sunset time if you want to find better place. We Recommend to Book Hotel Riverale / Hotel Great Ananda

- VIPIN_GOEL_TP_ImpexNew Delhi, India7,195 contributionsBetter View of Ganga Aarti from Ghantaghar sideThe evening Aarti time at Har Ki Pauri was 6:30pm. We reached there around 5:30pm. This time we were on other side of Har Ki Pauri for in front view of Aarti. People were sitting on the banks, so we have to sit at least ten rows behind. Ganga Aarti was well visible from this side. I will recommend to see the Aarti from Ghanta Ghar side. We have a bath in cold holy water of Ganges before Aarti and have Tilak on the forehead.Visited March 2023Travelled on businessWritten 1 May 2023
- Arjun VermaNew Delhi, India149 contributionsIt is a matter of good fortune for me to attend the Aarti of Maa Ganga Maiya.During Maa Ganga's Aarti, the atmosphere there was worth seeing, everyone was praying. With the sound of hymns of Mother Ganga all around, it seemed as if you had truly reached heaven. There is still a lot of improvement to be done in the management there, the most important thing for the devotees is to pay attention to cleanliness. Despite all this, lack of cleanliness is not a good thingVisited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 October 2023

- Pankaj P13 contributionsEvening aarti as a VIPAttended the evening aarti, got a guide to arrange VIP seating for Rs3000, for the family of 5. This was a front row seats right in front of the aarti, there were more VIPs, so I guess visitors can be squeezed in if willing to pay, may not get a front row seat but still better that watching from the other side of the bank. Watching from the other side of the bank is definately a better view but you will have to come early to get decent seats or standing and I believe it can get crowded and uncomfortable. Stayed a few kms away and came back early morning for a walk, beautiful walk, place was clean and begger's did not bother us. January is cold, so be prepared. Enjoyed that early morning walk, having street breakfast.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 January 2024

Get to Hari Ki Pauri by about 5:30PM or so to secure your spot. The aarthi started at 7:30PM and takes place in the Brahma Kund area. So, to witness the aarthi you can pick a spot anywhere on the opposite side(near the clock tower). The bridge that connects these two banks will be closed by police. Therefore, you can't stand on the bridge anytime during the aarthi. The place gets super crowded and there were hundreds of pilgrims seated to watch the aarthi. Please do not litter! If you made a mess, please care to pick it up and deposit them in the nearest trash cans. Enjoy the experience quietly and safely.

Seeing the Ganga Aarti is a mesmerizing spiritual experience, as you join in the crowd to chant and witness the ceremony in person. After the prayers, the priests begin to do choreographed fire movement followed by water blessings. Thereafter, if you'd like you can join in the aarti by releasing flowers into the river while making wishes, followed by donation to the river.

From a purely religious point of you, the Aarti is spectacular. However the whole area need to been far far cleaner, with better facilities and amenities. At present it is a bit of a controlled chaos. The parking area is atrocious. Hawkers are all over the place and the area is quite dirty. A tip need to be taken from the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi.

rajeshmaheshwari
Jaipur, India19 contributions
Well you cannot book online. But you really donot need to book as ganga aarti is conducted on ganga river ghat which are huge and spacious. Best way to watch it is to go a bit early and sit there. Or go to opposite side and sit there. Ganga aarti is all about the atmosphere there and you can enjoy it by sitting there.

please suggest me some good hotel/ Dharamsala (name) near Haridwar railway station
JayantSathe
Mumbai, India592 contributions
There are standard hotels near railway station but it all depends upon your budget. I would suggest please do not stay in any Dharamshala if you wish to maintain a particular standard. Haridwar is enjoyable many things to see. Some temples are good but be careful from those Pandyas and Pandits. At many places / temples people do not observe line discipline but it appears to be the culture of this country unfortunately. If you can tolerate such things Haridwar has beautiful places to visit. All d best and enjoy your trip
