This place is in pretty well state of conservation. The landscape you can see in all directions from the top of its corners it's one of the most beautiful I have ever saw

Fortaleza is beautifull. They really take care of it and it shows the interesting history of Uruguay. The view is great, you can see so far!

The fort is impressive! Watch out for the bee hive in the roof of the rebuilt chapel. The views from the fort are great, you can certainly understand why it was built in this location. The grounds of the park are great. Lots of rental...More

If you are in Rocha, the fort is worth the visit. Built by the Portuguese I believe in the 1600s but changed hands with the Spanish several times. Was restored in mid 1900s. The size of the fort, with its massive walls and spy turrets...More

You can see the fort from the outside, but once into March things around here close for the season. It is still quite a site, and you can drive further into the National Park. Lovely views from the Mirador del Ballenas (whale watching)

restored portuguese fort. worth visiting for history and views. very moderate entrance fee. can be very hot in high season and late day visit might be worth while considering.
