This is just my my family's opinion on the Kayak in the Bioluminescent Bay. Sorry for the length of the review, but it's fresh in my head and I wanted to give a full review. Our tour was given by Group Services (GSI)....I'm sure others may think differently, but this was our experience. Tour time was 7-8:30 PM. We went... More

25 minute kayak to the pool, 20 minutes to play around, 25 minute paddle back. Try to go when moonlight is low. Don't bother bringing a camera; not only will everything you bring get totally soaked.. there isn't much to capture on camera.. it is more about experiencing the nature. Kayaking through the trees is beautiful, at times it is... More

This was the third time I've been to bio bay. The first time, in October, 2013, was amazing. The second time, April 2014, somewhat less so. Last night I took my granddaughter and there was no bioluminescence whatsoever. None. Nada. Don't ever go this time of year. No wonder you have to pay in cash. Everyone would put a stop... More

The Bay is sick and should be stop tours. They take 50 usd for person, but no plankton :)! It was a ridiculous.

First, DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR IN THE WINTER! (They take your money and then tell you that winter is not the best time for the trip. Second, know that you can see the bioluminescent plankton from the very second you enter the mangrove forest - you don't have to wait to get to the lagoon. My family and I... More

It looks as if there are a lot of deactivated micro fire flys are in the water which are activated when you shake the water. I read that before coming, so, I was fine. Those who are giving one-star and two-star reviews were expecting glowing water, which, unfortunately, is what a lot of photoshopped photos on the Internet show.

This was a horrible tour. There are either too many people in the group for the guides to help, or they need more guides. When we were in pitch blackness, and went into a tree, there were no guides to help us or the stuck kayak behind us. We yelled for help a few times until a guide called back... More

We were so impressed with the whole operation. They contacted us ahead of time to say that the luminescence was limited and we could either get our money back or go at a reduced rate. We figured any luminescence was going to be more than we'd ever seen and we were so glad we went. It was a hoot. The... More

These two people kayaks sit low enough in the water and are relatively easy to maneuver. BUT bring mosquito repellent and plan your trip on a dark, moonless or very cloudy night for the best view of the bioluminescence.

Beautiful and fascinating to see the defend mechanisms of these creatures of nature at night. Our guides were well experienced and knowledgeable. They could literally find their way in the dark. The view of the astronomy in the open bay was breathtaking.
