Meet the Vikings! At Borg in Lofoten, the largest longhouse in the world of the Vikings has been found - and reconstructed. Upon entering the 83 meter longhouse, you embark on a journey more than an 1000 years back in time. In addition to the Viking Chieftain's house, the museum offers modern exhibition halls with archaeological artifacts, and the story of the finding and excavation of Borg. In the film theatre, we show a short drama-film. During summer, the Viking ship is moored at the seaside, 20 min walk from the Chieftain's house. June 15 - end August guests may participate in Viking activities, such as rowing the Viking ship and trying their hand at archery. All year, different Viking meals are being served, check web for more info. The museum is open all year - check home page for hours as it varies through the year.

We were Disappointed We booked this excursion on the advice of our travel agent while on a Hurtigruten cruise. The ship was running late so everything was rushed. We were not told of the 35-minute trip to the Viking Village and the 1-hour drive back...More

The long house is spectacular to visit and to discover how they lived then. Very friendly, and nice demonstration of some of the work ancestors did. We had the opportunity to have lunch on site. You become part of the show

To do justice to just the indoor portions of this site we needed several hours. Sudden extreme weather (strong winds & heavy rain) prevented us from outdoor exploration of original excavation site and ship. Two highlights for us were the exhibition hall (using audio guide)...More

We were traveling on the Hurtigruten and took the optional excursion, “Meet The Vikings”. What an absolute waste of money. £111 per person ( yes that’s right) was a total rip off. We spent more time on the coach travelling to/from the docks in Stamsund...More

This museum is very fun to visit. It is interactive and you will learn a lot about the viking history. The people walk around in viking clothing, in a building that used to be a viking farm. Everything is decorated to make it look like...More

Wasn't much in the history of the Vikings, you just get a story of a particular family. It was just worth the money, I didn't feel ripped off, but I wouldn't go so far to say it was good value either. All in all, worth...More

I must admit that after reading some bad reviews I was concerned. Needlessly. I attended with my two young adults, 17 and 20. The trip from the ship took 35 mins, during which time our Viking guide entertained us with tales of what life would...More
