About ten kilometers north of Sarlat-la-Canédat in black Périgord, stop in Saint-Crepin-et-Carlucet to visit the castle Lacypierre, built between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries on a stump of the thirteenth century . He successively belonged to Ferriere, vassals Knights of Salignac, then to Benié of Lacypierre, family of civil and military officers who gave it their name. It is a true manor sarladaise that emerges from the forest when you arrive. The building, constructed on either side of a hexagonal tower housing the staircase, also has a square tower with a dovecote and a slate roof. The central body is pierced with transom windows. After visiting the area freely Castle Lacypierre, discover the exhibition explaining the restoration work to save the building. In summer, you can visit the castle, fully furnished and inhabited by the owners every Friday and Sunday at 15:30.

Not a proper review as we have not been inside as the limited opening times have not worked for us. Why the review? A picture of this place hands on our lounge wall form our first visit to the area five years ago as we were so captivated by its looks and location. We will get inside one day

This is an old building which has been lovingly restored by the owners. Its history is described by the lady of the house who also takes you round. The description is long and in French, but the tour is very interesting.

Very good location, all facilities were great, out door swimming pool, Internet access, and a great sweet breakfast every day. The on site commentary on Fridays @ 3.30 is only available in French, a stroll to the Chateau was still worthwhile.
