You message the owner in advance so he is aware of how many people to expect , he told us it was fine to come. When we got there it was overcrowded and the snakes were passed from person to person for a picture. Snakes looked in good health however from being passed around like that I can assume it causes a lot of stress on the animal. When we arrived the owner immediately placed two pythons around my neck without question and told me to "stand over there for a picture " it was at this point I felt uncomfortable and questioned the health and welfare of the animals at this place. Within 5 minutes of arriving we left , told the owner and he still asked for money.

If you are an animal lover do not go to this place, the less customers businesses like this have the sooner they will stop exploiting animals for money.

Our driver took us here during a tour of Sri Lanka - it’s about an hour from Galle on the way to Yala.

The owner is part of a long and famous line of snake experts - there is some interesting family history displayed.

We saw seven snakes - including some we could hold and other poisonous ones that he put on the ground. It was amazing for all of us and particularly the kids - suitably scary as well! Very nice owner and family.

Very exiting experience where they let you hold some of the snakes. He showed us a beautiful white cobra and other venomes snakes.
The keeper himself is very nice and he know everything about snakes worth knowing!

We enjoyed our 40 minutes or so at the snake farm. We saw a large variety of snakes, venomous and non venomous and the owners knowledge was good and informative. We were allowed to handle the non venomous snakes. I would recommend a visit here if you have time and the journey out to the snake farm is also very interesting.

Interesting and reasonably priced definitely well worth a visit. 3rd generation snake handling family and rehab centre. About 40 minutes of showing, handling (non-venomous ones off course) and talking about Sri Lankan snakes. Very knowledgeable and dedicated. Venom is collected for local medicines.

It is like going to a friends house and he is showing you five snakes. The fee is eight dollars which is the equivalent of what our driver makes for eight hours which is pretty outrageous. There were four of us so we paid 10,000. There was another couple there. But this is part of Sri Lanka where some places charge you crazy amount in relation to the cost of things for such things.

We were shown some constrictor snakes and poisonous snakes. We were even able to kill the constrictor snakes. It was quite entertaining, but only lasted about 30 minutes. I thought the price of 2500 rupees was much too high.
