Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A rudimentary, but thoroughly enjoyable experience, pulling oneself along on the rope, suspended from the ceiling in a cave with relatively little headroom between the surface of the water and the roof of the cave. Make sure to bring swimming costumes as you will get wet!

I ended up here by mistake looking for something different, but I'm glad I took the wrong turn (Oh google, if you're reading this, your directions to get here are wrong!). I paid the 20000kip entry fee and was greeted by a guy who spoke about the best English I've heard in Laos. I told him I was travelling solo so didn't want to leave my bag alone. Included in the entry fee (20000kip is about $2 Aussie at the time of writing) is a locker hire, tube hire and headlight hire. You jump in the tube and pull yourself through the cave in your tube and pretty soon need to turn the headlight on to see anything in the pitch black. I was there by myself and even though the stalactite formations are simply amazing I kept just stopping and turning my headlamp off to immerse myself in the cave and enhance the sense of hearing by removing sight. You can hear the water dripping off the cave ceiling, the occasional lap against the wall that you make, occasionally a bit of roaring water where it is somehow entering the cave and yet not making any current. This turned out to be one of my highlights of my time in Vang Vieng, and I didn't even plan to go there!

I like exploring caves. Interesting caves, preferably large ones with lots of geological features. This is not such a cave.

So we decided not to take a tour instead hired a buggy for 5 hours. If doing this as we did the main high wY is scary, but we made it also follow google maps, not signs as most are for scouters and the buggy doesn’t fit across the bridges! It’s only about 12 kms away but took us almost 2 hours due to long incorrect de tours ( silver lining saw some great scenery, and had a laugh)
Once we arrived paid small fee for parking, a couple of people there, a little old man showed us what to do then ended up being our guide, this was great as he took us deep inside the water cave beyond the ropes, we gave him 60 kip he was stalked! The cave was better than we expected cool refreshing and beautiful!

Not sure if I have the right place...
Dont be fooled "non" cave doesnt mean it isnt a cave.
Visited here as part of a tour. I'm a bit hesitant about caves and what's in them so didnt particularly enjoy the experience. But there were no spiders or snakes or bats in this one so that makes it a good experience on the whole. You "tube" part of it, pulling yourself along the ropes and then a guide showed us the caves. Unfortunately his English was poor so our questions were answered with "you can google"...right. probably wouldn't go our of my way to see this, but if it's part of a tour then it's alright.

I enjoyed it and had a relaxing time tubing through the caves.
It’s not an absolute spectacular thing to do but was fun and refreshing.
I did it independently hired a motorbike and went myself it’s was extremely unorganised and no one there to show you or explain anything to you. I think they only care about tour companies to be honest.
Lucky a private tour guide that was showing 2 Germans around said come with us and he organised getting in tune etc. No staff approached me at all?
When you get on time with your helmet/light you pull yourself through the cave on ropes that are hooked up,
It’s simple and easy and any age group can do it, not an absolute must while in Vang Vieng but a nice fun experience.
Cost is about 20.000kip with entry, parking etc so fairly cheap.

I combined this with kayaking down the river. This was an excellent break from paddling. It was really cool to enter the cave on a tube. The cave itself is nothing overly special. The scenery kayaking down the river was fantastic!

We did the tubing at this cave in the low water season as part of a tour. As a result there were a couple of places we had to get out of our tube, walk across a shallow, low, rocky area and get back on the tube. You will be barefoot. It was fun going in and you get pretty wet so it was good it was hot. Coming out was very rushed and it's hard to keep the tube where you are looking forward. The ropes also change and bring you against the side of the cave. I was backward and did not realize this and hit the ceiling in a low area. Good thing they make you wear helmets. They changed me to a line further from the wall and all was well. A lot of fun.

Don’t come here unless you’re with a tour group because you will get ripped off, but isn’t that the case everywhere? Don’t be miser and pay for a tour, you’ll visit other places, make friends and have a better time. Fun experience, but it is what you make it - if you’re no fun then you’re not gonna have fun, simple!! :)

Yet again breathtaking spectacular views and experience.. Get up get out and get lively... Mountain bike is the way forward cheapest and most fun way to see vang vieng. No carbon footprint perfect tanning travel... Take your trainers and pit your flip flood and water in rucksack and enjoy the freedom of the open rd

If you are going there in a van then you might be able to leave some things in the van, however I'd recommend travelling light and bringing what you have in with you. You can buy dry bags in various sizes (1L, 2L, 5L etc sizes) from town so you can keep your wallet and other valuables dry. Note that you'll be floating on a tube and then crawling through a cave so you've want to have your hands free some of the time. Get a waterproof case for your phone or camera if you can as it's cool to get photos in and around the cave.

VVTV is a travel agency, yes, it located near the corner of Bamboo cafe & bar and Sakura bar. Actually, we planned too short time for Vangvieng. In 1 day, we did not have enough time for all. Finally, we choosed a 8am to 5pm tour with full of activities (zipline, watercave, kayaking). So we missed the Phukham cave and blue lagoon. However, our time in Vangvieng is still unforgettable!
