So so much fun, don’t miss it! We started at 1pm and finished around 7pm, the bars are cool but a little more expensive than anywhere else in Vang Vieng, but they have games like beer pong etc and really good atmosphere! Tubing was so much fun (defo bring a dry bag and also your own drink for whilst in the tube as it’s a long time between bars). The best experience

This is definitely a must do in Vang Vieng. We booked direct with the tubing business and they picked us up from our hotel. We chose 10am to avoid the hoards of drunken party people who go at 1pm. After a 15 minute drive, they dropped us off at the riverbed. It was amazing to float down the river surrounded by spectacular mountains, small farms, houses and under bridges. We stopped and had beers at one of the river bars. Apart from a few kayakers, we practically had the river to ourselves. With one beer stop, the tubing experience took about 2 hours. We loved it so much we did it all a second time 2 days later. It only cost us 100,000 Kip pp including pick up and transport. Highly recommended!

Booked through our hotel accommodation in Vang Vieng, the tipsy tubing consists of around 3 hours or more of slowly bobbing along down the river at a leisurely pace. There are 3 or 4 bars open on each day which you can stop off at and get some drinks. This activity might not be for everyone but we loved it!
NB bring your own dry bag if you want to keep your stuff actually dry, as the tour’s dry bags are useless!

Three hours floating down a shallow river at a very slow speed may not be every one's cup of tea but we loved it, a unique experience. I probably wouldn't do it again but we were pleased we did it the ONCE. After all that is what holidays are about, experiencing new things.

We went late afternoon, and had a fun couple of hours, before being chased off the river !
We hired the tubes in town, and took a tuk tuk to the start point. We'd had a cycle earlier in the day, so this was a fun end to the day.
It wasn't very busy the day we did it - your mileage may vary !

The tubing will be what you want it to be. Let me explain you why: everybody normally goes at 12:00, so, if what you want is to party and meet a lot of people, that's your hour. We went at 11:00 so we literally had the river for ourselves.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience tubing in Vang Vieng. The views are absolutely stunning and it's so relaxing just floating along slowly while you take it all in. Only stopped at one bar, they're all right at the beginning and just wanted to get going and enjoy it but if you want to drink you gotta stop off straight away. Can get a bit rocky in places so mind your bum but it just adds to the adventure! Worth doing for sure.

We are both around 60, we did the whole trip. No danger, very relaxing. It took us 3 hours to finish the trip without stop. Sometimes the river undeep and almost no current. We left at 2.30 pm at the end it become cold when the sun went down. Good and friendly service. Book at the company not at an agency. It’s cheaper!

Had been "TUBING" in a group tour through "Nana Backpackers Hostel" in Vang Vieng. We were driven in a large tuktuk to the start point of the "Tubing" adventure on the nam Song river.. At 1230 hrs .each tourist was given a inflated tractor tyre tube and launched themselves into the river. After floating on the tube from our start point on the river we gradually drifted downstream and arrived at our first "BAR cum DANCE " floating barge. It was a orgy of music, drinks and dance before proceeding on our respective "TUBES" to the next entertainment station. There were a total of 3 stations with the 3rd station being the last stop of the entire afternoon's tubing on the Nam Song river. Something totally different akin to being shipwrecked and drifting on a life-raft on the water.Try "TUBING" once in your lifetime.TUBING" is what transformed a once ordinary village of Vang Vieng in Laos into a tourist hot-spot in the country

Nice weather, river wasn't very fast in the beginning it was just perfect.
Nevertheless belive me if you stay on water for too long your arms start to pain and if you go in to the city it's very dangerous because of the motor bouts.
I recommend it but stop after 1h or 1,5 and don't go to the city

Depending on the time of year the river flows at different rates. I think it would be better to go in the dry season when the river flows as a more leisurely pace. I went in September and it was over too quickly and also the nice water areas around Luang Prabang were not that really pretty blue colour but rather brown.

Went in January and for stunning scenery / magic of floating down the river with virtually no-one else on it I'd recommend it as one of the best things we did in Laos. It IS very quiet and nothing at all like the party scene it was a few years ago

How do you get back from the end of the tubing?
Thank you!

Hi!
The tubing that we did (the white painted tubes) finish in the middle of the town (Vang Vieng) there are people there who will guide you in the direction that you need to walk to get your tube back to the shop! It’s like a 5 minute walk!
I am going to Vang Vieng in july. I want to know if it is safe, I mean tide and waves. Plus, I dont know swimming. Is tubing only for people who know how to swim?

Everyone is requested to wear a life vest but we ended up having to save someone who got caught up in a tree and couldn't free themselves. I almost lost my tube and bag as a result. There was slight currents in June when I was there which are fun to help move you along the river. There are only 3 bars open on the river now.

Hello everybody!
I went tubing 6 years ago and I had the time of my life! I would love to go again in mid April, but I have two questions:
1) How is the weather by that time?
2) Is it still open? I heard rumours that it was shut down...

Can you buy your own tube, walk the 4km up yourself and then go down the river without having to use the tubing maffia? Anyone tried this?
