Uncle Toms is a dirt bike tour operator offering tours and riding tuition (for total beginners) in the Kasi region of Laos PDR. 125cc four stroke trail bikes. plus smaller for training,British operator. Always best to book in advance due to limited places each day. Training is limited to two persons at one time and open to anyone over 5 feet 5 inches(165cm)on the full sized bikes, but we now have smaller bikes for anyone who is a bit smaller. Due to the rapid changes recently in Vang Vieng town,we have moved location, now we are based in the amazing Kasi District which is 55 kilometers north of Vang Vieng town.

Signed up with my wife and a friend who both never rode a motorcycle. Also their scooter experience was quite limited. I had ridden a bike before so was named Tom's wingman in the following instructing session. Have to say it was really a highlight of our trip to Laos. Not only was the riding a lot of fun (great... My wife and I contacted Tom for two days of lessons and motorbike riding in Laos. I was an experienced rider, but my wife hadn't ridden, except for a few hours 10 years ago. She was very nervous about learning, but the reviews here indicated that Tom would get her up to speed safely before we went out on a... More

I could never expect to be able to ride a motorbike and to have such an amazing experience thanks to Uncle Toms! On the way from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang my friends and I stopped at Kasi, a small and almost unknown village, to experience a motorbike tour with Uncle Toms. Firstly I had half day of training since... More

Kasi is a beautiful place surrounded by mountains on the way from Vang Vieng to Luangprabang, where you can experience authentic local life in case you want to go off the typical tourist path . I actually never imagined myself riding a motorbike. Now i know that learning to ride with Tom was the best decision I (or better to... More

My girlfriend and I were really eager to learn to ride manual motorbikes properly as I had previously had a bad experience on a scooter in Thailand (wasn't the first, won't be the last!). We heard about Uncle Tom's trails and it sounded like it was just what we were looking for so we contacted Tom and he was really... More

Had a great time in Laos thanks to Uncle Tom. He is actually in Kasi now, not Vang Vieng Admittedly, we didn't know who Tom Jones was (sorry!) but he did resemble Negan from the Walking Dead. Thankfully in looks only as he is a great guy full of quick wit and patience and is a great teacher. I was... More

My wife, youngest son and I have some experience riding motorcycles, so we decided to give Uncle Tom's Trails a shot to see Lao in a different and more authentic way. Over two days and about 170 kms, we rode on a variety of road surfaces while traveling through some absolutely spectacular landscapes and numerous rural villages well off the... More

We had a lot of fun learning to ride those bikes and going out on dirt roads with Tom. We saw beautiful landscapes, visited rural villages and met nice people. Total recommendation for anyone near Kasi Thanks Tom for the best 2 days in Laos we had so far!

Before my wife and I undertook this 2-day tour (a whole afternoon and then the next morning), it's fair to say I was bricking it. I'm quite the wimp when it comes to trying things that are completely out of my comfort zone and considering my only experience of scooters/motorbikes was nearly putting my rental scooter into a 8-foot high... Ride a little at home but Tom spent some time teaching me some basic skills which was very helpful and he is a very good teacher. Had a good afternoon ride out and stayed in a night in a nice guest house and spent a nice evening in a local bar before riding back the next morning. A very good... More
