While not a large display inside - there is a large Native American village outside. Interior has a nice variety of information and displays about the people who inhabited the valley before the Europeans entered. There are some works by local artists in the gallery, but e biggest display is outdoors. It's a recreation of a village.

Excellent thing to do when the weather's bad. Small museum showing the lives of the native Indians, crafts such as woven baskets, jewellery, etc. Area outside with reconstructed village.

The collection changes often, but it is usually from local artists and the prices are not outrageous.

This is a special exhibit and was FASCINATING. The museum is right next to the Visitor Center. As a native Californian, I've been to Yosemite probably 25-30 times over the years, and somehow missed this museum. The curators reviewed literally millions of items from their archives to achieve this amazing presentation. It distills the Yosemite experience to the best of... More

This was always a favorite stop with our kids. It's a museum, a Native American culture exhibit and a changing art gallery in the room next door as well as a Yosemite area Native American village behind the museum. This gets over looked by a lot of guests but is very easy to find next to the visitors center. If... More

This season's exhibit displays objects from different collections from a mountain lion skull (back when Yosemite had a zoo) and wolverine skat to burden baskets and a Bierstadt painting. Stop by and take a look and use the interactive kiosk to vote for your favorite item. Also leave a note on the whiteboard of any suggestions or praise.

First, step inside the small museum and check out the Native American cultures that lived in the Yosemite region, the Miwok and Paiute. Fabulous baskets and artifacts are on display. There is also a small shop which sells Native American jewelry, baskets, and the like. Behind the museum, there is a reconstructed Ahwahneechee Village. Structures are constructed with the bark... Open daily from 9am - 5pm and is located next to the Valley Visitor Center. It has an Indian Cultural exhibit as well as a museum store. We spent no more than 15 minutes tops in here.

Loved the little museum and especially the trail out the back explaining how the native americans used the natural resources. One particular interesting use of black oak acorns was to crush them a make a poultice for painful conditions often laughed at by unsympathetic wives. The shop next door with the Ansel Adams photos closes at 5. Strange this as... More

Visitors are being misled into thinking Miwoks inhabited Yosemite Valley , when in fact Yosemite was inhabited by Piutes. The Miwoks came later and on that note , it was the Miwoks that helped and aided the Mariposa Battalion who would later capture Tenaya and his band. While the museum has some good information, and unless it has changed, most of... More
