Driving from Death Valley in the morning to arriving into Yosemite by the afternoon was an amazing contrast, with the arid landscape of the desert transitioning into the lush green of Yosemite. Be aware this road is only open in the summer but offers the best route into the park from Death Valley with stunning views and stops along the... More

We have taken this route several times to get to Mono Lake and Body the ghost town. Lovely scenery as you come down out of the park.

This is something you must do in your life! Not to mention drive all the way through if you can to the Majestic. I am very well-traveled yet must say...there is nothing like Yosemite on a non-crowded day like in November. Amazing! I have driven in the summer and it's not as great due to too many people. Late Autumn... More

We drove over the Tioga Pass on the portion of our road trip from Death Valley to Yosemite Village. We did not realise, when we planned our trip, that the Tioga Road could still be closed at the end of May! Luckily it opened just a few days before our trip so we were very fortunate as it is a... This is my favorite get away from the tourist and yet every time you come around the corner there's something new to see, pull over check out those small lakes. The Beautiful view Half Dome from high up like 9000 ft try it right as the sun sets you won't believe how gorgeous this is. The different colors of light... More

An incredible drive, the best we have ever done so far in the US. Every corner you turned the views just got better and better. Tenaya lake was a lovely spot to stop at and have a paddle.

This is a great quick way to get through to death valley and Vegas from the West coast when the road is open. It is the highest crossing of the Rockies and is open in Spring summer fall, but is closed with the first heavy falls of winter till spring. Comes out at Mammoth Lakes

If you plan to drive the tioga pass, make sure you check with the local authorities to see whether it is open well ahead of your planned trip.

If you are on the east side of this National Park then the journey to the central region is a long, winding, up/down road along this pass. When it is closed in the winter months, however the journey is even longer at nearly 300 hundred miles. My advice therefore is avoid the winter months! Rising and falling you are presented... More

If you go to Yosemite and don't go to the north end of the park and experience Tioga pass and the scenery that comes from this view of the park you are missing out. Great sunrise locations abound here.
