Amazing and beautiful. This was a wonderful walk from Old Faithful. I strongly recommend downloading the Yellowstone app and listening to some of the audio products about the different pools. You can learn about how people used to throw items into these pools for "luck", but caused significant and lasting damage. It would be easy to spend a week (or more) in and around Yellowstone National Park.

I loved this geyser! The rainbow colors were absolutely stunning and so clear! It had a life of it's own and I couldn't stop staring. We rented bikes from Old Faithful Snow Lodge and biked here which was great fun (and saw a bison along the way). One of my favorite geothermal features in Yellowstone.

One of my favorite geothermal features in Yellowstone, absolutely stunning and mesmerizing! I noticed another reviewer said it was a long walk, but we rented bikes from the old faithful Snow Lodge and biked there, which was so fun! Must see! (my other favorite attractions were old faithful of course, and dragons mouth geyser).

We thoroughly enjoyed the 1.25 mile walk from Old Faithful to Morning Glory Pool. Along the way we saw six (6) geyser eruptions and many of the highlights of the Upper Geyser Basin. Morning Glory Pool was our destination and it delivers.
Please don’t use it as a wishing well. It’s a fragile thermal feature and coins, junk, etc. lower the pool’s temperature, plug the vent and promote the growth of the brown bacteria rather than the striking blue.

This is a very colorful pool on the far side of the Upper Geyser Basin. If you are walking from Old Faithful, it is basically the last thing you can see in this area. It is about 4 miles round trip from the visitor center and back though.

Morning Glory Pool is a sturdy walk away from the Old Faithful Inn but worth every step of the way. Still magnificent despite the colors appear to be changing due to some cooling of the water due to debris.

My 3 teens and I loved this pool.
I would recommend making the effort to see it. It is small but deep and very colorful - aqua and green surrounded by mustard yellow. There is a raised platform at the edge of the pool that makes it easier to see into the water and photograph it.
BIKE OR WALK
The easiest way to reach Morning Glory is by bike which can be rented at Old Faithful Snow Lodge. There is also a walking path that is both wide and well groomed - very EASY to navigate. You could push a stroller on it, you could wear sandals.
START OF PATH
The path can be accessed from Old Faithful or you can pick up the trail at the street near Biscuit Basin/Sapphire Pool/Shell Geyser - this is where we started (see trail map). We parked along the road just south of the bridge over Firehole River and did the entire loop down to Daisy Geyser and then up the east side past Morning Glory. There are lots of thermal pools and geysers to see along the way.
On the upper portions of this trail (Artemesia Geyser is also beautiful), we were the only people; most everyone starts at Old Faithful.
Total trip time for us was about 2 hours - this included lots of time spent take photographs.
AMENITIES
There is a bathroom close to the pool. Benches are scattered along the path. There is not a lot of shade.
WHAT TO TAKE
Hat, sunscreen, water.
BEST TIME TO GO
Early morning or late afternoon - better for photographs and not as hot.

The Old faithful area has a lot to offer geyser gazers but Morning Glory Pool is still a popular attraction. There is a lot to see during the 1+ mile walk to the pool. So, take your time and enjoy the sights and sounds of this thermal area. Now, for the bad news … once upon a time, this pool was a beautiful blue color from edge-to-edge. Over time, people have abused and polluted it. Now, the colors are fading … Morning Glory is a prime example of what can happen if we do not protect these awesome features. If you have the time, it is still worth the walk to Morning Glory.

Back in the day this Hot Spring used to be the most gorgeous and famous in the world. It's dark blue colors were gorgeous and magnificent. Over the decades pollution (people throwing things into the Hot Spring) caused the water temperature to drop. This allowed other colored algae to creep into the pool, almost a brown ugly type of algae.
While she doesn't look the same as she did in the 40s and 50s, you still need to see this Hot Spring. Think of its former glory. It is located all the way at the end of the geyser basin along what used to be a road. You can't drive on it anymore but you can ride your bike. Nearby is Riverside geyser. This geyser goes off every 6 to 7 hours and erupts over the river. This is something else to check out if you are on the loop.
Reminder that all geyser times are posted where the geysers are or at the Old Faithful visitor center.

This is my favorite pool. The colors are so vivid and the water is clear. It can be accessed while parked and visiting Old Faithful. It is a bit far down the hill/path from Old Faithful, almost to the end (more than a mile walk, then you have to walk back). There is a boardwalk walkway in front of it, if you squat down you can get a good photo with it in the background. The trail you take to get to this pool has many other features along the way to check out. Worth the trip!
