The History and Architecture is Fantastic
Beautiful historic hotel. I l is some people slam places that have high price tags and are not modern and spiffy. But it’s about the history, the architecture and of course the location. Yes there are lots of people and many many that are not staying at the Inn but it’s still wonderful. We were in the west wing. Two queens full bath and closet with a nice view of open spaces. Coffee maker and ice bucket. There is the nice restaurant, the bar with appetizers, a deli and a code stand. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The restaurant food off the menu was very good.

    Unique hotel building
Pretty impressive building with great all surrounded by wooden pillars and with a great fireplace in the middle of it. The structure makes it a unique place to visit. Some of the rooms have view on the old faithful and upper basin. Very early reservation is normally required for peak seasons (and not only).

A quiet escape from the crowds of Old Faithful
Don’t overlook visiting the Inn! The architect and decor is incredible! Make sure to look up the history of the building. Head up to the second floor balcony, grab a coffee from the espresso cart, and find a rocking chair! We spent nearly an hour just enjoying some quiet reflection.

So sad it will not open this year; it is my favourite building on earth. It’s easy to be critical of how crazy busy it gets on a summer day but stay around awhile, especially lodging inside it. Even in July, after the daytrippers depart, its ambience is so very impressive. I Recommend you book more than a year in advance. It’s that popular. Book your dining room reservations early, too. Some rooms have a better view than others but the overall moodiness of the basin and the structure is something delightful to savour, if given some leisure in which to take it in.

This is an amazing building in terms of history, architecture, (and ghost stories). Take your time. Look at the windows and the construction, both inside and outside. If you want to stay there, you need to request a reservation VERY far in advance, and be prepared to pay a high price. As with other properties nearby, do not expect Wi-Fi, air conditioning, or televisions. The purpose of staying there is to be one with nature and experience the beauty surrounding you. I was able to visit, but was not able to stay the night in the Old Faithful Inn. We would have needed multiple rooms to fit our family of 5. Hopefully, my wife and I can visit in our retirement years and stay in one of the historic rooms.

The location is perfect for getting around the park, especially getting places early before the crowds and when the animals are most active. Also the view of old faithful from our room was fantastic.

However, be prepared for musty rooms and, as others have pointed out, no AC, TV or in room refrigerator (a $5 foam cooler from the Food Roundup in West Yellowstone is a worthwhile purchase). If you have any food in your room make sure you mouse proof it as we were awakened one night to a mouse getting into ours.

The buffet is pretty bad - it takes a special ability to make meatloaf that bad. On the other hand, the to-go sandwiches from the Bear Paw Deli made for a good picnic lunch while visiting the park.

Glad we stayed but will likely never stay here again. The lobby is extremely busy with people who are not staying at the hotel, only wanting to visit the iconic inn. The most recent addition to the hotel was in 1927, and our room must have been a part of that addition (or earlier). There is no air conditioning, and while the night air, even in July, dips into the 30s-40s, it does get quite warm during the day and the window could only be raised about 8 inches (for safety reasons), so the room was very stuffy and hot throughout the night. I could have overlooked the crowds but sleeping while hot is not something I want to pay $500/night for, so next time we will be looking elsewhere.

The east wing rooms are being rented out and are totally not worth $500 per night and not worth half that price. Especially with the rest of the Inn closed. Location only goes so far with cost. No a/c or TV which I'm ok with. No fridge though. Very limited food service throughout the park. Old Faithful area is a day trip I'd do from West Yellowstone and stay there also.

This is the neatest building because it is built out of logs. You need reservations way in advance to get into here and it will cost you. But you can wander in and look it over. I stayed here many years ago and it was an experience to walk out the door and head for your seat at Old Faithful Geyser

We booked a room for one night because of the location and the opportunity to stay at this historical century old inn. It was disappointing to arrive and find that the lobby was not open for guests of the inn to see but in retrospect we should have been able to figure that out since at the time of booking, it stated we would need to check in at the Snow Lodge. Having said that, we were not disappointed with our stay. yes the rooms at the inn are basic and old but they work. And yet another unexpected turn of events upon arrival, our room had a direct view of the geyser! Simply incredible despite being obscured for photos by a insect screen. We got take out dinner from the Obsidian dining room and it was for the most part delicious. We had the bison short ribs and local trout — outstanding — accompanied by good mashed potatoes and carrots that we did not eat as well as some delicious root beer that we topped up with our bourbon bought at the gift shop :-)

We thoroughly enjoyed watching the geyser erupt and the whole area but I certainly would not come here at the height of tourist season. I imagine it was just be a long wait for everything and not very pleasant. We very much appreciated all the staff here doing the best they could with pleasant interactions despite the pandemic and keeping up with PPE and social distancing.

After viewing Old Faithful erupt, we walked over and explored this iconic structure.
The lobby area is a wood-centric and stone architectural masterpiece; deserving of some thoughtful observation and historical appreciation.
We decided to try the buffet lunch. The offerings were decent; but the real highlight was being able to further immerse oneself in this compelling atmosphere.
Once we finished enjoying our time of visiting this amazing site, we were fortunate enough to be greeted by another Old Faithful eruption; making for a satisfying punctuation to the whole experience.
Whether or not one is seeking lodging at this historic establishment; it most certainly
warrants a visit.

This is one of the worst places we stayed for about $500 a night. Front desk totally disorganized, rooms were like a cheap hotel without air-conditioning or TV, poorly appointed, food was just plain awful, That all said this is a must see visit for the day with wonderful trails and amazing gaisers. Nice too see the Architecture but not to stay here.

We absolutely loved the Old Faithful Inn's gift shop! It is large and has a wide variety of souvenirs and gifts, and at reasonable prices! The Assistant Manager Nick and all of his staff were so helpful! I highly recommend stopping in for your Yellowstone gifts!
