This basin has amazing turquoise pools. The colorful minerals surrounding the lake as you enter the basin is also an interesting feature. It is a perfect side trip on your way to the bigger basins such as Midway and Upper Geyser Basins.

So I read this one could be skipped if short on time. Terrible advice - I'm so glad we stopped! Sapphire pool may be my favorite hot spring in all of Yellowstone because the blue is so beautiful. Wall Pool, Shell Spring, Mustard Spring...there's plenty...More

I liked the color of this crater. It is a splendid sapphire blue. I could see that its water was quite deep. We can see everything in there. It is crystal clear. Amazing and worthwhile to see. Although it looks like a beautiful pond, it...More

The saphire pool looks great. One of the must sees when you visit Yellowstone. Go early, you'll be there before any tourbus gets there.

The Sapphire Pool hot spring is one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring in the park. The depth of color looks photo shopped because it is so intense. It is incredibly deep and you are able to see into it because the walkways are well...More

Make it a stop on your way down to Old Faithful, or up from old faithful. Very pretty. We saw it when it was colder in May and so we had a little harder time seeing the water because of the mist. Nice little pathways...More

This is a cool stop just to see the cool colors and how deep it really is. Hikes around the area and decent access.
