It's a great hike down to the lower falls. Bring your hiking poles if you have any knee issues at all. Keep the rubber tips on your poles, as you ARE hiking on pavement, but the grade is pretty steep.

I was on a Caravan Bus Tour of Yellowstone that included a stop from which we were able to see and photograph Lower Yellowstone River Falls. I had seen many photographs of this waterfall, but I was in awe as I stood there watching it in real life. It was difficult trying to get a good viewing stop because all... More

There are lot of waterfalls but this one is one of my favorites. It isn't all that easy to get to but if you are in reasonable shape it is well worth the effort.

Along with geysers, there are many waterfalls in the park and this is one of them. There are many vantage points from which to view the falls for great photo ops; easy parking and trails.

You can park & see the brink of the lower falls. Very impressive! You can see this on Uncle Tom's Trail if you're in good shape. You can park at the end of South Rim Drive & see how stunningly beautiful this falls can be. It's a "can't miss it" waterfall.
