Big geyser

This is in the Back Basin of Norris. It's big, but only goes off every few YEARS! Of course we weren't lucky enough to see it go off.

Long Walk, not much to see now but a memory and a distant hope. But, right around the corner sleeps a Green Giant worth looking for, turn right after a bridge, go to the water edge and wait a few minutes until you hear a gurble.

Steamboat is on the Back Basin walk of the Norris Geyser basin and is definitely worth the walk. The back Basin is an extremely active area and Steamboat is one of the major geysers of the area. When I was there is was shooting 20-30 feet into the air, but by no means a major eruption, the last of which... More

It doesn't erupt often and depending on how many other geysers you've already seen, will probably directly correlate with your interest in it. The ranger talks are always interesting though and the one here by Ranger Rose (I think) was no exception

LOL, the area is volcanic and one expects noisy and turbulent environment. It's the exact opposite. Great area to hike, stay on board walk. Pace yourself and enjoy.

This is part of an easy and nice trail at Norris Geyser Basin which is worth the walk. We were able to see it erupt a bit while there. It is the world's tallest active geyser!

This geyser seems to be pretty continuous so you get to see it erupt a bit. We didn't see any others erupt while we were in the Norris Geyser Basin so it was cool to see some activity in this one. The walkways are like a boardwalk which provides easy access but there is a walk to get there. Not... More

This is where you see geysers erupted continuously., though not really that spectacular. Was told there were some really grande ones, up to 300 feet high. Though happened only once in a few years. Well, when we were ready to leave, saw a sudden outburst from one of the geysers. Not the real thing, but still 60-70 feet up and... More

This trail is great. Not only do you get to see Steamboat Geyser, which is a continuous geyser, but there are so many other sights to see. But some advice....bring water, take a hat and take your time. Most of the trail is flat and on boardwalks.
