Strolling around the lake before getting so hot in the day time, we saw bisons and elks. We also heard wolves howling in the night. Animals were definitely around. It's calm and peaceful- we love and so do animals.

Yellowstone Lake was very calm with a calming wave coming in and depending on location, a beautiful reflection of the scenery off the lake made for some great photos. There are a number of hidden nooks around the lake for privacy or photo opportunities. The...More

If this is out of your way or is not worth it. You don't see many wildlife! If you are driving on the grand loop you can get some pretty sweet pictures. Although too cold to swim!!

A must for every fisherman! Even though we were not prepared to fish, it was one of the highlights during our trip out West. We caught both Cut Throat and Lake Trout. The fact that all the equipment is provided, with a guide and the...More

Large lake with many water sports/activities for the family. We enjoyed the view for several restaurants that we visited. Our main interest was the photo opportunities along the shoreline. Found several spots to capture great sunset photos.

A nice, serene place. You can boat or stay on the Lake Hotel or Lodge if you want to spend some quiet time.

This is a very big lake and can get some serious weather. In June it's even colder due to snow melt, but runs ~ 40 F all year round. We went kayaking on it in a more sheltered area (West thumb) and REALLY enjoyed that....More

The lake is huge, a significant part of the south east corner of Yellowstone is lake. Fishing, boating, lakeshore viewing all are possible. The view from the Lake Hotel is peaceful.

We didn't spend a ton of time at the lake. On my next trip, we will. There were lots of birds: bald eagles, cliff swallows, pelicans, loons. The views were great. I'm hoping to rent a boat next time and see it from a different...More

Avoid going on trails to Canyon falls the upper and lower falls, they are bit steep and not recommended for old people with heart and breathing issues. Artist point gives a good view of the lower falls from a distance... More
