Don't expect sidewalk viewing of lions, tigers or great apes, rather friendly interactions with the feathered and furry. Visitors can purchase animal feed items, such as parakeet sticks, and watch as the colorful birds land at their fingertips; feed cups to hand feed giant watusi and gentle llamas on the safari wagon ride, or bottle feed little lambs and goats. Roer's Zoofari also holds a "Creature Feature" at 10, noon and 2pm where guests enjoy an informal animal meet and greet with a parrot, ferret, alligator, snake or other small animal.

Chinese Lantern Festival is happening until January 15 and boy is it worth going to. It is done in the traditional latern making techniques by craftmans from China and they are absolutely gorgeous. This is not your typical Christmas lights it is a artful culture rich evening. They also preform true Kung Fu on the stage, make sure to listen... More

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend upgrading the area slightly to improve my rating to a 5. Overall, our family had a great time... More

We had visited here a few years back - when it was the Reston Zoo. Read that it was under new ownership and had been improved. So packed a picnic lunch and headed to Reston / Vienna. Parking is in a decent paved lot. Wasn't busy on a crisp November day. We paid the $13 adult fee (military discount) and... More

On a perfect Fall day we ventured to Roer's Zoofari. The littlest littles (under 2) are free. We got there early, bought a bucket of animal food ($5) and started our visit. This is a small zoo - like a neighborhood zoo - no scary animals. Nicely set up and compact enough for little kids to walk most of the... More

Thanks to new owners for wonder-filled experience for our children. Our group enjoyed our private wagon tour. Drew, our guide, was patient and knowledgeable reiterating our science and geography lessons as he introduced animals from all over the world. Bisson, llamas, goats, donkeys, zebras, pigs from Africa, Australia and more. We had a blast in the aviary as the birds... More

I took my 6 years old daughter to this place a couple times and she loved it. It's more like a petting zoo and she always had a good time. For a parent I guess that's important but that's where the good stops. It's a small place, and probably only takes you a hour or so (unless you wait 30... More

My husband and I took two of our grandchildren, ages 3 and 6, on a pleasant September day. Perhaps it is busier later in the day, but it was not crowded at all when we arrived at 10am. The 6 year old really enjoyed feeding the animals, both on the wagon ride and in the barns/cages as we walked around.... More

Visit started by advance ticket purchase offered on website not working. I did however have to create an account, and set up a password. Obvious tech problems. Brace for a bit of sticker shock. Admission is a bit pricey, but it includes very little. Animal food is sold separately, and adds up very quickly. Four bird-seed sticks cost $5, and... More

Great place to take young children to experience the animals. We live nearby and enjoy driving by and seeing the gazelles, zebras, monkeys and loads of other animals grazing and roaming a wide open field. You can get on a hayride to see them up close and feed them. Staff are wonderful. Our son volunteered there one summer. Very friendly... More
