Don't expect sidewalk viewing of lions, tigers or great apes, rather friendly interactions with the feathered and furry. Visitors can purchase animal feed items, such as parakeet sticks, and watch as the colorful birds land at their fingertips; feed cups to hand feed giant watusi and gentle llamas on the safari wagon ride, or bottle feed little lambs and goats. Roer's Zoofari also holds a "Creature Feature" at 10, noon and 2pm where guests enjoy an informal animal meet and greet with a parrot, ferret, alligator, snake or other small animal.

Great Time for the Kids!

The kids really enjoyed being able to feed baby bottles to the baby goats, and to feed many of the animals feed from their hands. The 'safari' was a neat ride in a bus with open... read more

The kids really enjoyed being able to feed baby bottles to the baby goats, and to feed many of the animals feed from their hands. The 'safari' was a neat ride in a bus with open windows, and many of the animals were very friendly and came up to get their treats! A little chilly when we were there, but... More

My son loves the budgie cage, so we organized a small get together for a few friends. Thought it may have been too young, but all the kids from 12-14years had a good time doing the safari, feeding the barn animals and then feeding the budgies. The driver was especially knowledgable and happy to answer all questions we had. Also... More

We had a great time at the lantern festival. The lanterns were beautiful & fun to see, the kung fu performance was awesome, and the folk artists/vendors had something for everyone. The prices on the items for sale were a little high, but they took cash and cards and a few of the items were definitely worth the money. We... More

Went to the Chinese Lantern Festival on New Year’s Eve 2016. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The parking lot was chaos! The sell waaaaaaay more tickets than their parking lot can possibly handle, and the two parking lot “attendants” (I use the term very loosely) were incompetent. The displays were OK, although not authentically Chinese at all. I suppose they may entertain kindergarten-aged... More

Visited this place for chinese lantern festival that will be here until 15-Jan. The lanterns were simply fantastic and we had a wonderful time admiring, observing and touching them. Martial arts shows are done every hour with the last show at 7 pm. You can skip the line by purchasing online at their website or groupon. Reason for 4 stars... More

Having been to several different light displays at this time of the year in several different locations, I did not know what to expect when my son and his family planned a visit to the Chinese Lantern Festival. It was most impressive and quite different from anything that I had seen before. The hand-crafted lanterns from China are quite beautiful... More

Chinese Lantern Festival is happening until January 15 and boy is it worth going to. It is done in the traditional latern making techniques by craftmans from China and they are absolutely gorgeous. This is not your typical Christmas lights it is a artful culture rich evening. They also preform true Kung Fu on the stage, make sure to listen... More

My husband and I took our children (ages 5 & 7) to the Zoofari on Friday. The kids had a blast. They especially loved feeding the animals, camel encounter/ride, and safari tour. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend upgrading the area slightly to improve my rating to a 5. Overall, our family had a great time... More

We had visited here a few years back - when it was the Reston Zoo. Read that it was under new ownership and had been improved. So packed a picnic lunch and headed to Reston / Vienna. Parking is in a decent paved lot. Wasn't busy on a crisp November day. We paid the $13 adult fee (military discount) and... More

On a perfect Fall day we ventured to Roer's Zoofari. The littlest littles (under 2) are free. We got there early, bought a bucket of animal food ($5) and started our visit. This is a small zoo - like a neighborhood zoo - no scary animals. Nicely set up and compact enough for little kids to walk most of the... More
