Our time was short after spending most of the day at the national military park, but we stopped during the last half hour that the museum was open. The fee is small, and we enjoy history, so we made the most of our short time,...More

This old-fashioned museum is located in Vicksburg's most prominent landmark - its old hilltop courthouse - and offers an extensive, matter-off-fact chronicling of the city's history - before, during and after the Civil War. Lots of artifacts, both military and domestic. It's the best museum...More

We rate this the best place to visit in Vicksburg. The beautiful old building, still a glorious piece of will maintained history with everything you could ask regarding the epic battle of Vicksburg. You must go and take time to read the exhibits, see the...More

This museum is well worth a visit. It is absolutely crammed with items of interest I'm not going to say much more and just let the pictures do the talking. This is a must see. Give it a try.

It took me about an hour to see everything at this museum. It cost $5 to get in. Some interesting items and exhibits. Grant's chair was interesting. The gift shop sells authentic civil war items.

Museum housed many relics from the Civil War, particularly the Vicksburg campaign and siege. Learned a great deal of information that guidebooks leave out, for instance Lincoln used 5000 negro troops to occupy the city after it surrendered--seems like a bit of vengeance on his...More

If you enjoy revisionist history and trips into a parallel world where the Confederate states and army were pitiful, helpless victims of a tyrannical North, then this is the place for you. I would hardly call this courthouse a museum. It's more of a temple...More

We saw materials from the slave era in Mississippi. I will try to post a photo of a flyer offering land and slaves as a package sale. The slaves were the more valuable part of the deal. It was distressing but a part of our...More
