Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This beach has a narrow strip of white sand and provides sheltered swimming in a reef-protected bay. It seems to be populated more by locals than the beaches to the southeast in Waikiki. There is parking on the street and in a lot across the road, but be careful because many of the street sites are reserved for emergency vehicles and you will get a ticket if you park there. We initially parked in the lot to the west of the beach, but it didn't feel too safe.

Although not totally "back to nature" at this park, we do enjoy the setting and the friendliness of those that come to hang out at the park..

We enjoy the time here with some of the areas that provide some escape into shade.. cant be in the sun all the time!

We will return to enjoy some time at this park on the west end of Waikiki..

We have visited Waikiki three times but this was the first time we went to this park. Don't miss this park. Next time we will go to this park instead of Waikiki beach. There are benches to sit on, grass or beach to lay on. There are way less people that Waikiki beach, and it's a beautiful location with a great view of Diamond Head. This park would be great for small kids to swim at as it is calmer.

Our hotel was right beside this beach. We enjoyed jogging and riding bikes in the morning along this beach. We watched the locals surf and we loved it not being over crowded by tourist. There is also a logoon that was nice and clean and again was occupied mainly by locals.

Once nothing but a bog, the Ala Moana Park has developed into an attraction coveted by locals and tourists alike. Like any attraction in the Honolulu area, it is best to get there early to secure a free parking space. The park is a favorite spot to swim, picnic, and relax. Bathroom and concession areas are available. The beach at the park is man-made by the Dillingham Dredging Company who needed a place to deposit its sand. Great place for all ages.

We discovered this gem by accident and fell in love with it! There was minimal breeze, no waves, and plenty of space to ourselves. If you park in the parking lot, there is plenty of space. Take time to explore the park, which is only a few blocks from Waikiki beach and much less crowded. It was honestly our favorite beach we visited!

I travelled to Oahu with myinflatable paddleboard. I drove all around the island to try different places to paddle. Ala Moana Beach Park was by far my favorite. the area is protected from the waves so the waters are very calm and filled with sea turtles. The paddling area is extensive and spacious so you can get a really good workout in or just relax and float without worrying about running into others. Parking is challenging so you'll want to get there in the arly morning.

This was a nice, not too-crowded park to walk through. The beach wasn't the greatest, but it seemed to do the trick for locals looking for a swim during lunch. We brought our lunch from Foodland here to eat, and while we appreciated the tables, the amount of flies were out of control. It made it really hard to focus on our food, as we were swatting flies away the entire time. We tried moving from picnic table to picnic table, and finally down to the beach to no avail.

My wife and I visit this beach park a couple of times each holiday. We walk from out condo up near the zoo, and it takes us about 45 minutes to get there. We take a change of clothes so after the swim we walk across to the Shopping Centre and have lunch, the get the $2 trolley back to our place.

Always relaxing and never busy, mainly locals. Usually see a couple of turtles as well which is nice.

Great spot to have a picnic too.

If you want a quiet day to yourself, this is the place to be. Only the locals frequent the Ala Moana Beach Park. You'll know them as most are either jogging or on their rollerblades. The beach itself will probably be empty as most people are down at Waikiki. This place is directly across from the mall so, if shopping is the priority, certainly, there's no time for standing and staring at sand. Honestly, I've never seen more than 15 people on this beach. No joke.
