This hike is easy to find but challenging to walk railroad ties as it starts easy and goes to strenuous as you reach the top of this over 1,000 foot vertical ascent. The views at the top are some of the best on the south side of Oahu. Make sure you wear good hiking shoes and have strong knees and... More

From the car park it is pretty obvious where the trail goes - straight up. The views at the summit are awesome, truly stunning in every durection, but it's a challenge. I'm a pretty fit 60 year old and I had to stop a few times in the 40 minute ascent (30 minutes coming down). My fit bit told me... More

Very satisfying to finally make it to the top. Go slow and bring water. We left to go up at 5:20 and were up in just over half an hour, a perfect time to see the start of the sunset. The views are incredible. Challenging, but rewarding.

We were driving by and decided to give this trail a try. The trail follows an old rail line upto the top. The terrain is uneven and washed out in areas and some of the railroad ties are rotting out, which isn't too much of an issue except where it bridges an area and the drop would be 10 ft... More

Great for all ages. Bring enough water and wear good hiking shoes. Take time to enjoy the view as you ascend the trail. Round trip takes about 2 hours including frequent breaks to enjoy the breathtaking views. Hike at your own pace. No restroom facility.

We did that short hike after diving as we couldn't go too high up in altitude, but we certainly didn't expect the steepness of the stairs! We hike a lot but this is one of the rare times where we definitely had to pause and catch our breath. But bring a big water bottle and apply sunscreen and it's definitely... More

The view is stunning when you reach the top. The hike is up marching straight up an old rail which needs maintenance. It is a march to hell if you like that sort of thing. There are more interesting hikes on the island.

Just wow.....the climb, the views...and the people on the path! You'll think your breathing your last breath on the ascent, and lose it again when you take in the view, and make new friends along the way! It's a spectacular thing, this hike....its tough and a whole lot scary in some spots if your height conscious.....there is a spot were... More

This was one of my favorite hikes. It is quite demanding especially with the spacing of the sleeper planks..We found the views great, but my wife did get scared of the height and failed to go the last 100 meters.

I am a triathlete, marathoner, frequent runner and gym-goer, but this hike still gave me a real challenge just due to the steepness of the incline. I was sore for 3 days after, which I consider a compliment. I did it at full speed and did not stop on the way up or down, whereas my wife and kids took... More
