The location and site are great, the three courtyards give the feeling of open space and each has its theme. There is no pressure to rush through the extensive collections.

The collection was not impressive but it is very cute little place to chill. We loved the little gardens they offer and the restaurant there was reasonable. Compared to major metropolitan museums such as Met/ MOMA in NYC or art institute of Chicago, the collections...More

This museum far exceeded my expectations. There are some spectacular examples of buddhas and archaeological artifacts, as well as paintings. One in particular is breathtaking. Guanyin, from either the Northern Song (960-1126) or Tangut Xia (1038-1227) dynasty. Guanyin is the goddess of mercy or compassion....More

Lots of Asian art, of course. Can always count on an edgy current exhibition. Be sure to park in their lot across the street--otherwise parking is a nightmare.

We unfortunately didn't have too much time so will be going back to explore more of this fantastic art museum when we come back to Oahu. The museum itself with its multiple courtyards reflects the relaxed nature of Hawaii and entices exploration - a great...More

This museum is not small about 15 collection rooms and courtyards. There are always exhibishion as well. But depending on your schedule, 1 hour or 2 hours will be walking through all collection rooms.

I concur with the other two respondents, but would also add that there is paid parking at the Blaisdell Center across Thomas Square and metered parking adjacent to the museum and Linekona Center.

There's an office just behind the admissions desk where people leave packs and suitcases. The staff is very helpful.
