Many of Hawaii’s alii (royalty) lived in Waikiki and King Kalakaua selected a 300-acre track of land at the base of Diamond Head for a public park in 1867. Today, it is a gathering place that thrives with walkers, runners, tennis enthusiasts and picnickers. Grab lunch on Kalakaua Avenue and enjoy it in one of the shaded picnic areas scattered around this colorful park.

This is a pretty little park that stretches alongside the Ocean all the way into Waikiki. It is well used and enjoyed by many people and hosts various events such as craft fairs etc . It is a little dark along the ocean walk at night and better lighting would be an improvement but we never felt threatened or unsafe... More

Kapiolani park is teh best place for a morning run in Waikiki. Forget the boardwalk with it's crowded spaces, morning munchers and limited space. The park has a track that is perfect. It is also the spot for some great events, like Lei day on which everyone celebrates the Hawaiian flower garland, with contests, food displays and more.

This is a great park to get your early exercise walk or jog. It is at the easterb end of Kalakaua Ave. between the zoo and the aquariam. You feel like you are at the base of Diamond Head. God change from all the congestion of Waikiki

Beautiful sand and views, not crowded, definitely a must see. Could only stay a few minutes on our day tour, but went back for more.

A very nice green park with many giant banyan trees and open green space. We like to jog around the park as part of our workout. This park is full of people working out, playing soccer, football, exercising and just hangin' out in large groups, bbqs, etc. It's also right next to the ocean at the far end of Waikiki... More

Beautiful, clean, spacious park right in the middle of the city. Has few beaches where you can stop and swim.

We had a rugby carnival here and it was special - such a wonderful expanse of well kept and maintained parkland with so many facilities and just by the sea.

Great place to walk and lay around. Saturdays there is a market here with goods from local artists. Used to house the Queens royal horse track still somewhat visable.

The park is always clean. Artist Fair was a plus on Sunday. Take your suit if you want to take a dip, but there's a lot of coral and rocks at that beach.
