The hike to the summit of Diamond Head is .08 mile (one way) and take about 2 hours for the round trip hike. Wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes (not flip-flops, or 'slippers' as the locals call them) and take your time. At least a moderate amount of fitness is recommended. About a tenth of a mile a the trailhead is... More

After waiting for almost an hour to figure out where the Green Waikiki Trolley stopped, we finally got on the bus. Cost us $25 return. However due to the following circumstances, we caught the public bus number 23 back to our hotel in Waikiki. Few pointers for families travelling with infants and/or strollers: 1. The bus has a designated baby/parent... More

Expect rain in December, can rain in other months as well.. Wear shoes with a good tread as the rocks can be slippery. Can't believe people actually wear flip flops; not smart. A rain jacket is a good idea as well.

I have been before, but was travelling with people who haven't and I was keen for them to see the views, we went in the afternoon when it was cooler and they loved it! Well worth the effort :)

Went early on on day - there at 5:55am (opens @ 6:00am) and we were about 20 cars from the front - plus numerous walk-ups coming up the road. Left. came back another day in the afternoon and it wasn't as busy. Numerous places to stop and take a break - thank goodness! - and it is a little steep... More

Although the climb is exhausting the view at the top makes it all worthwhile. It gives you a whole new perspective looking back at Waikiki beach and hotels.

Well worth the hike up to the top. The view is spectacular! Be patient to take your turn at the different viewing spots as it can get very crowded.

I hiked Diamondhead with my husband and our two teenagers, and it was a fantastic hike! The trail was a bit steep, with several steep staircases, and definitely winding, with many switchbacks, but the views at the top were totally worth it! We could see all of Honolulu and then some, as well as other mountains in the area. Even... More

We took the Waikiki bus to diamond head then walked through the tunnel into the crater's centre The walk to the top of the crater is quite long but is not very difficult but hard although it gets steep near the top and there are steep steps at the top I recommend to take your time and take water and...
