Description:

Verde Canyon Railroad is a Southwestern adventure that takes passengers on...

Verde Canyon Railroad is a Southwestern adventure that takes passengers on a ride through Arizona’s backcountry, only accessible from the comfort of this train.

This legendary “boutique” attraction allows members of groups an uncommon view of a wildly-wonderful red-rock canyon. The four-hour excursion requires no laborious effort or exertion except by the highly-trained staff who absolutely love what they do. As evidenced by exceedingly positive reviews, they do it very well.

Verde Canyon Railroad is the only excursion train in the Southwest which offers every guest two seats for the price of one: inside viewing through large panoramic windows in all coaches and 360-degree views from open-air viewing cars attached to each coach. As the train passes “through” a grand canyon, both vantages celebrate incomparable scenery, high-desert flora and fauna, historic trestles, dramatic geology, unusual rock formations and passage through a century-old 680-foot tunnel. Throughout the journey the captivating history of the Verde Canyon and the Railroad unfolds with narration interlaced with a wide genre of popular railroad tunes.

Upon our arrival at the depot, we ordered lunch in the gift shop restaurant. $11.00 provides you a hot or cold sandwich, a bag of chips and a large fountain drink, fairly reasonable. The food was presented in a very timely manner, accurate, piping hot and a good portion. We ate outside at a spotless picnic area along the train.... More

We just returned from the 4 hr day trip into verde canyon. What a fun, fun time! We splurged and booked the caboose, worth EVERY PENNY! Do it if you have the money and have 6 or less in your party. We are a family of 6, kids are all young adults. They knew they were going on the train,... More

The scenery was good to spectacular. Glad we went on coach instead of first class, hard to justify the extra cost and if they are full you don`t get the true value. Having said that maybe on a slow day who knows. It`s a four hour ride, they reverse the engines at the end and start back, return trip you... More

Exceptional time. The scenery was amazing. But more than that, the staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. You can stay inside the beautiful passenger cars, or really get a feel for the terrain around you on the open cars. Well worth it!

We enjoyed this trip very much. We indulged ourselves with first class tickets. The car was spacious and comfortable. Snacks were provided and drinks were modest cost and well made. Daniel was our host and kept us informed on sites to see as we approached. It's about 4 hours round trip. Reservations are required. Light lunch is available in the... More

We booked a couple of first-class trips on the railroad (coach was sold out), and are so glad we did! The furniture in the first-class cars is very comfortable. The day we traveled was a cold, rainy day. Do yourself a favor, check the forecast and pack a heavier coat if you need it! I wish I had, as OUTSIDE... More

Starting in Clarkdale, the railroad takes you on a 4 hour trip though the Verde Canyon and along the river. Even in winter the scenery was magnificent. We had first class seats, the cars were spacious and we had champagne as we left the historic train station and snacks including small sandwiches and chicken wings as we began our trip.... More

Not worth the price. Very disappointed. Staff kept pointing out the different rocks that looked like animals. Not really much history. Positive note: clean & friendly staff Just not worth the $$$

We took the train trip and opted for first class! Service in first class was good, with finger foods and a glass of champagne. One could also purchase cocktails, beer and wine. Enjoyed the views along the Verde river and the red rocks and other rock formations along the route. The right side of the train definitely had better views!
