The Old Stone Mill was a structure that I was very interested in seeing on my visit to Newport. It has a cylindrical, rough hewn appearance and many stories regarding its origin, which is probably the biggest appeal when visiting this site. It sits in a beautiful little park and was fenced off on my visit, but still very easy... More

There are some intriguing stories of this structure, but the mystery remains. There is a small museum nearby where some of the historical details can be learned. It was a bit of a hike from the Wyndham Onshore, but doable even for old folks.

Love it here. Such a peaceful little park with this curious stone monument. Right in the middle of town, not out of the way of anything, a nice spot to visit :)

Interesting to walk around. Unique in design. Set in a memorial park across from a beautiful old church.

This was just up from our hotel we were staying at with our dog in Newport so we stumbled on it while walking her. No one is really sure if it is indeed an Old Stone Mill or something the Vikings built, but it is in remarkable shape in a beautiful little park surrounded by beautiful buildings, homes and churches.... I saw this featured on a TV show so was very curious to see it in person when visiting Newport. It's several blocks uphill from the main street but I think still worth the time/energy to get there.

Lol. I still believe that the Templars constructed this unique structure. Nice park setting with the backdrop of an old church.

This mill is in the middle of a really pretty park. Fun to look at if you are in the area. Don't go out of your way, though.

I wouldn't put this hi on the list of things to see in Newport but if you are nearby you should go see it. It is an odd structure in an area of a bunch of colonial homes.

Situated in a small park, the Old Stone Mill provides a quick glimpse into Newport's past. There appears to be some controversy who and when it was built, but overall it's a fun and quirky way to spend some time.
