    Wonderful resource....
After exploring the "cottages" of Newport, and its stunning concentration of the Victorian aesthetic; the Park is a wonderful place to enjoy the natural beauty which was part of the the reason this concentration of magnificent architecture came to be here. We came to the Park several times to relax, in a pleasant and well-maintained environment. From a couple enjoying a "formal" picnic, to a man flying (and selling) kites...from young people exploring the rocks & waves, to folks sitting & strolling along the shore; this an interesting gathering place and wonderful resource for inhabitants and visitors to the area.

    Excellent Spot for a Sunset
This is a fantastic place to watch the sunset. Highly recommend it. Plenty of places to walk out and sit and have some privacy. We enjoyed it so much we came back a second time to watch another sunset!

Great for kids of all ages
Great place for kite-flying and exploring the tidal pools. Be careful of the slippery rocks! We saw hermit crabs, snails, and other crabs as well as many kinds and colors of seaweed and algae. The sea was relatively calm on that day even though the wind was pretty strong. On another day, the waves were monstrous, so be careful if you venture put on the rocks. We enjoyed the sunset as did many park goers on that day. Bring a picnic. Lots of picnic tables. Bathrooms were closed so be prepared. Parking is one way, so enter at first left entrance or you will be driving a a while and turning around. Enjoy! Old steps can get you down to the tide pools.

    Very nice!
This is a free state park on Ocean Drive. There's a lot of parking. We walked around & checked out the monuments. There's an observation tower you can hike to, but we decided not to. Some enterprising individual sells kites. Kite flying is very popular. A restful place.

My daughter and I took the advice of our trolley tour operator, Troy, and went here for sunset. What a beautiful view. We were directly across from the parking lot, but next time I would watch from down near the exit -- where the waves are crazy and crashing! Definitely worth getting here if you can!

This is right by the water on the scenic ocean drive in Newport. Grassy area and ocean winds make the place ideal for flying kites. We stopped by and parked by the Del's truck. There used to be more benches across the road by the beach but there were only a few. This is a take in and take out park - meaning you have to take your trash with you. There are no trash receptacles anywhere, even by the bathroom

Beautiful spot on the point with sweeping views of the ocean. Plenty of area to walk the dog, fly a kite or picnic. Don't miss the easy flat hike into the woods to see what remains of the mansion that occupied this site ... stables, carriage house and tower. Would be nice if there was a plaque or photos explaining the history, but we quickly looked it up after our visit.

We came across this while driving along Ocean Drive. The park is long and follows the curve of the shoreline but is across the the street from the water. The park had its beginning during the Revolutionary War as a fortress and still has one of the Panama Mounts in place among other historic pieces. There is also a memorial to those who served and died. In addition there is the Portuguese Discovery Monument also worth spending some time at. On the recreational side there is room for many activities including picnics, hiking, fishing and kite flying. There is also plenty of room for numerous other activities. I can imagine sitting on one of the benches and relaxing with a good book.

Stopped for photos of the impressive views of the rocky Atlantic shoreline from this state park. Were traversing Ocean Dr. which travels through this park before you get to the section with all the mega rich mansions. Worth a quick stop for the magnificent seascape.

Easy drive over to this park after visiting some of the Newport Mansions. Would be a nice area to eat a picnic lunch. There was a food truck and "kite" truck on site when we visited. My kids had a great time exploring on the rocks. Beautiful area to walk.

Brenton Point State Park sits on Ocean Drive where Narragansett Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. The park also features the Portuguese Discovery Monument, a tribute to navigators. It's windy here and a great place to fly a kite.
