Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ate lunch here the other day. Huge variety of food. New England clam chowder was amazing! Flavorful, full of clams. Lobster roll fresh and generous with the lobster. Nachos were huge and cheesy. Margaritas and bloody Mary's perfect. Our waitress was very attentive especially since they were so busy!! Would eat there again and again!

Brick Market Place has the feeling of an open air mall with shops situated along cobblestone walks with narrow streets surrounding it. There are some stores there you may not like Del Sol which is found in a lot of resort towns as well as tourist type t-shirt shops.

We took a great walking tour of downtown Newport and enjoyed it very much. This historical building was originally used an open-air market with merchants and offices on the upper floors. Today the Brick Market is a museum.

Scam. We parked in the lot (no one was working the gate so we took a ticket). Many of the shops were closed (mid April). When we went to leave, there was an attendant at the exit gate who charged us $34 for 4 hours. Cash only, no receipt. Huge scam. Stay away.

We have been coming here for years, and as a native of Newport, know it costs to park unless purchasing from a vendor in the market! We did make a purchase just as we do every visit to this area. Attendant told us the Bailey's T Shirt shop was not part of the market. Obviously he was confused or scamming money. We argued that the shop was in the market and he still insisted we pay for parking, that they were not honored. We will be writing a letter, since all I have found was bad reviews and I know we are correct.
Beware if you park in this lot! Someone is padding his pocket quite a bit!
I gave one star ONLY to submit review, otherwise it would have been a negative number.

Just a sort of boring dead zone in Newport. Some lame stores and places to eat. There's nothing of Newport in this place, it might as well be in Cleveland. Avoid.

We are not easy people to write a positive review, but after our visit to Brick Market Place in the heart of beautiful Newport we have changed. Yes this area of Newport is packed with great stores. And now a brand new North Sails store has just opened up! Before they open, a true market test of the area, I am sure was made, and they selected the right location. With plenty of parking lots and on street parking we had no problem parking our car. My guess as we get closer to high season, that could be more difficult. Might want to arrive early . Sweet brick walk ways, with New England painted buildings, just what we loved. No empty stores, easy with a baby cart to get around too.
