Its more female then the other Mansions. Its decoration is all about nature, animals and flora, plants it really is stunning. Doris Duke has a sad ending but this mansion is full of wonderful Glam!

What a wonderful insight into life at "Rough Point" in the depths of Winter. While Doris Duke was enjoying Hawaii at holiday time, life still went on at her mansion. Fascinating to see the "Undecked" Halls while she was away. All furniture and much of...More

Not a part of the Preservation Society of Newport Co., but a very worthwhile property to visit. Majestic setting and well furnished and maintained.

I had to pay a separate entrance fee for this tour as it wasn't included in the 5 mansion ticket, but it was really worth seeing.

Rough Point is different from the other Vanderbilt Mansions as it is comparatively modern. The rooms are tastefully decorated rather than over the top. You can see this was more than just a summer cottage for the super rich.

Good answer by Richard B. Don't miss Rough Point, if you get a chance, watch the movie Too rich - the secret life of Doris Duke. I visited many mansions, but this is the one I made the trip for.
