The must see - place to see it all in Newport. Food, fun and lots of history. Took a lovely self guided walk on this street and many of the adjoining ones... imagining it in its earlier days.

Thames Street has every kind of shop you could want. Additionally the restaurants along the way are wonderful. We needed a scarf, we got those at the Gap...we needed to eat so we went to Benjamin's Raw Bar, I wanted a charm for my bracelet...More

Crowded street, not enough parking, lots of overpriced shops. I guess it was good to say I've been there. Don't think I'll spend any more time there though.

We stayed at the Wyndham Onshore Resort on Thames Street. The location was excellent as we were right in the historic district, walking distance to a lot of restaurants, shops, things to do, Visitors Center, Museum of History, Madeilene Sailing. Had a great time!

Continuation of Americas Cup Road, Thames Street (Americans pronounce the TH unlike us Brits) worth knowing if you are asking directions. A Great street with the Waterfront and shops.

Our experience was that I gave up on a parking spot and just drove along. Between regular tourists and the people from the cruise ship, the area was packed and crowded. It didn't look to be enjoyable on a busy Sunday afternoon. I imagine that...More

My favorite shop was Bite Me Bait Shop for cleverly designed tee shirts. I visited there several times and bought three shirts, all of which were appreciated by the recipients for the colorful shirts and clever sayings.

With the buildings dating from the 1700's this area is so much more interesting than the modern day shopping areas. If only the cars weren't allowed in the area it would be so much better but life must go on.

Parking on side streets is free if you get there early. Lot parking on season runs $10.00, off season you can park there for free. Meter parking is available on Thames St. Small cars are best, as this is a tight fit and... More
